I was hoping to get some opinions (Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place).

I have had 2 c-sections (last one was 3 years ago) and just had a very early miscarriage - was only 4 weeks pregnant. During the ultrasound the tech had a hard time seeing certain things because of the scar tissue. Could scar tissue be a reason for the miscarriage? In other words, can scar tissue keep the embryo from implanting properly?

It can be a factor for some people. I think part of it depends on how much scar tissue there is. It would definitely be something to ask your Dr. about. But on the other hand I know people that have had c/s and never had any issues. I hope this was just a random thing for you!

Unfortunately the answer is yes. I know because I just had a scare last week concerning scar tissue after a D&C and went to a fertility specialist to have it checked out. I am so sorry to be the one to tell you this. The good news is that the scarring that occurs after a uterine surgery has a name and can be treated if it is not too bad. It's called Asherman's syndrome and a great website is ashermans.org it gives lots of information about this and was very informative. The other good news is a simple diagnostic procedure can tell almost immediately if it is a problem- a hysteroscopy is a simple in office procedure where they put a tiny little camera inside your uterus and look around. I just had this procedure last friday, it lasted about 10 minutes and was completely painless- the dr did give me 4 advil before, but I really didn't need it. The biggest thing is that the scarring can cause the sides of your uterus to adhere together or interfere with the growth of you endometrium which can lead to very poor implantation (among other things). I hope this gives you a starting point in your research, I know these things because it is still very fresh in my mind and I was scard to death that I wouln't be able to have more children. The doctor had good news for me and I didn't have any scar tissue- I hope you get good news too. Please keep us posted!!
