We had our youth retreat all this weekend, and let me tell you- it was crazy!!!

But in a good way. As I told ya'll before- I ended up with 7 7th grade boys and 2 college students in addition to my other 3 kids, DH and I. We had a great time!!! For breakfast saturday morning we had Ziploc omelets- the boys put 3 eggs and all of there omelet ingredients (ham, onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, cheese) into ziploc bags, then I just dropped the bags in a pot of boiling water for 13 minutes and VIOLA!! Hot omelets with no clean up- they LOVED it. For dinner we had two huge crockpots full of taco soup with chips, and of course tons of snacks.
All of the boys were so well mannered, I was really amazed at how great they did. I knew they all came from great homes, but they really made their mothers proud. They were polite, cleaned up after themselves and just were very helpful all around. we have decided that we will probably continue to host this retreat every year now.
As fun as it all was- I am EXHAUSTED!!!

I stayed up with them friday and saturday night and had to get up early with them each morning. I am also extremely grateful for my giant submarine of a car now too- I had to transport them all to and from the church at least 6 times!!! But we did have fun and that is all that matters- did I tell you that they weren't allowed to watch tv, have cell phones or mp3 players? They were supposed to spend the whole weekend in fellowship with each other and surprisingly they never even missed all of their "toys"

Just proves that preteens can survive without all of those things.
