so does anyone know anything about acupuncture and miscarriage? i was out with some friends and one of my friend brought another friend of hers along. we got to talking and she asked me what i did for a living. she told me she was an acupuncturist. I found that interesting. i asked her what acupuncture really treated and she started to list a bunch of things, in which infertility was one. i quickly honed in on the infertility. i told her my story of reoccurant miscarriages. she told me that she just treated a woman for the same thing and she is pregnant now with a healthy pregnancy.

I am considering trying this. my problem is not getting pregnant, it's staying pregnant and no one can seem to find a reason why.

anyone else have any experience with acupuncture?

thanks gals

I have done accupuncture for weight loss and my DH has used it for back pain. The woman I use is Traditional Chinese Medical Dr and actually ran a hospital in China before moving to the states. She was recommended to my by my Family Physician!!! I firmly believe in mixing eastern and western medicines. As a matter of fact, my Family Dr is Chief of staff at a local hospital, his wife is a surgeon, and he is certified in herbal medicines and performs manipulative medicine also (kind of like chiropratic). I had to search far and wide to find him, but I LOVE him because he will prescribe herbs or accupuncture to treat the illnesses before he hands out an Rx to treat the symptoms.

That being said, accupuncture certainly couldn't hurt anything. It's not painful at all, but is is kind of weird seeing a bunch of needles sticking out of you The only thing I would say is not to waste your money on someone who is inexperienced. Be sure that you are comfortable with the level of knowledge they posess. Otherwise, GO FOR IT!!!

I am having it done for the first time this weekend (I hope). My best friend graduates in August, but she can treat patients now. I'll sort of be a guinea pig I guess, but I've been dying to try it. And I have definitely heard of it's links to infertility.

Hope you don't mind me lurking/jumping in here...I used to post here after my second loss a couple years ago. I had trouble conceiving and when I did conceive I had two miscarriages and really low progesterone. After our second loss we had tried two IUI's and 5 rounds of clomid and had no luck. I got the book The Infertility Cure and it totally changed the way I looked at things. I found an acupuncturist that specialized in fertility and women's health. After 4 treatments (two months) and some herbs I got my BFP and have my son now. We are TTC again and my OB suggested I go back to the acupuncturist as it seemed to really regulate my temps and hormones. I really think the herbs and treatments made all the difference for me. Good luck!!

Enjoy it Lynda. I always find I'm so much more relaxed after a treatment. I've been going for years for migraine treatment. It's worked wonders. If AF shows this weekend I'm going to go back next week for fertility treatments too.
