I never spotted before my miscarriages. I'll have to check my charts, but I know at least the last few cycles I have started spotting at 8dpo, and AF comes around 12/13dpo...

I know this could be because of low progesterone right? (I had it checked after my 2nd loss at 7dpo and it was 8.5, which I've read is low, but my Dr wasn't worried). I'm wondering if I should call his office and mention the spotting each cycle and have it tested again? Or what else it could possibly be? If it was 2 days of spotting I don't think I'd care so much, but it's like 4-5 days and it starts so early.

TMI - It's brown, so it's old blood, but it's enough to need a pantiliner for sure.

Spotting can be caused by low progesterone. I have spotting but mine starts at 3 dpo and continues to cycle day 1. I now take progesterone supplements for it. I would probably get it checked again if I were you.

I would try again with the progesterone. I spotted last month and it was because of a cyst on my ovary.

I don't know enough about the progesterone to help with your question Christine (sorry) but wanted to add that prior to my first pregnancy i was having 1 day of spotting (also dark brown blood) about a week or so before AF would come...that went on for a couple of years (right up until the pregnancy)...it was just enough that I'd use a tampon or a liner, but then would vanish...I used to use it as a marker for when to expect AF to show since my cycles were irregular. Hasn't happened since my m/c...so not really sure what caused it (or if it was just normal for me...)

Thanks ladies. Once AF starts (today/tomorrow), I'll probably call my Dr. I need a pap anyway so maybe I can get in to discuss this too.

I wouldn't make an emergency phone call to the Dr (because most of the time you get a nurse that doesn't know anyway), but if you need to go in soon I would definitely bring it up during your visit.

I would say bring it up when you go in for your pap... So they can check.

I definitely agree with bringing it up to your doctor. I hope he can answer your questions and get to the bottom of the spotting!
