When I was pregnant with Katrina, at 13 weeks the Dr. had a hard time hearing her h/b, so they sent me to get an u/s. I was terrified I had miscarried. But when the tech checked Katrina, she said she had a healthy h/b, and the reason the Dr. couldn't hear the h/b was because I have a tilted uterus.

I've heard and read that having a tilted uterus could make it harder to get pregnant. But then some articles I've read says that it makes no difference. Does anyone know anything about this? Could this be causing some of the problems as to why we're having difficulties conceiving?

Hi Stephanie,

I hope not - because I have one too! Actually, I've been told my uterus is tilted since I started going to the OB when I was 18. They've always assured me it's no problem whatsoever, even when I got pregnant. When I miscarried, I actually found out that way you described (no hb found, so sent to ultrasound just to be safe), but they were convinced (before the ultrasound) that the reason it was not heard was because I was only 10 weeks with a tilted uterus. It just so happened that the ultrasound revealed no hb. We weren't expecting that.

Anyways, so although that can happen, there's no statistical reason to believe it would. In fact, I just had a friend with a tilted uterus (who didn't hear the hb by doppler till her second trimester), give birth to a healthy baby girl.

A tilted uterus might mean different BMS positions to deposit the most sperm... though honestly, I didn't need to do that to get pregnant.
So I think we're OK!

My nurse practitioner said I had a tilted uterus and that it could cause people to have trouble conceiving but I got pregnant in 3 months of trying the first time. You didn't have problems conceiving the first time did you?

Do you chart? Do you know when you O? Just knowing when I O makes such a difference. I also heard/read that after you BD and your DH (ya know!) in you that you should then have an O because it contracts the uterus and helps the swimmers go up farther.

I have a tilted uterus and haven't had any issues. But I've learned that you can get a tilted uterus after giving birth also, so I think thats where I got mine!

I have one and haven't had issues getting pregnant. And it corrects itself at some point in pregnancy (suppose to) and then goes back to being tilted after. But I've read that the best position to conceive w/ a tilted uterus is ummmmm I'm not sure how to put this politely but doggie style (rear entry always sounds like you know rear entry) Anyway...that is how we conceived Wyatt. Good luck!!!

I have one too! I was told after I had my son at the ripe old age of 15.. And that is what they think caused my uterus to tilt! I have conceved twice since last July.. and hoping for the third charm this cycle!

I was told I have a tilted uterus when I went to the Dr for a hysteroscopy. No one had ever told me that until then, so I son't know if it happened with my last pg or if it was just tilted that day LOL. I got pregnant 2 weeks later, so I know it hasn't caused me any problems and the Dr didn't seem concerned

Hmmm...I don't think it had any effect. It is probably a case where in studies a bunch of women with a tilted uterus just coindidentally had problems TTC or something, whereas in other studies they did not.

At our 9-week ultrasound with Roald I was told I had a tilted uterus. I got scared and asked if that was a problem and she said "Nope, just tilted."

We've also conceinved the first cycle all 3 times we've TTC. 3 for 3 in the first year of trying.

Plus we are not healthy as oxen either and DH smokes (though not heavily). And I'm heavy. I just honestly don't think the tilted uterus will lessen your chances. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Or you can call another OB and get a second opinion or ask why they believe a tilter uterus can make it harder to conceive?

It's going to happen for you, Steph. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

My sister has a tilted uterus and has two healthy children. Her doctore told her that it might be more difficult to get pregnant because of it and recommended that she use the doggie style position for BMS. She got pregnant the first cycle that she tried that. Her second was a happy little accident. lol
