This is loss #2 for us in 6 months. After your losses, did you do anything different before TTC? Like go to a doctor, take any kind of medicine to help your chances?

We won't be TTC for a few months, I need time to heal from this one but is there anything that could make our chances more successful in the future?

I am older also (just turned 40 a few weeks ago).

I'm so sorry about your loss!! I also am older, just turned 36 in Dec. and this loss makes me think that maybe I'm out of time. The doctor told me that it was just a fluke and there is no reason why we can't have a perfect baby next time. Since this is my first loss and I already have 3 kids, I haven't done anything. Just using OPK to pinpoint ovulation.

HUGS and good luck ttc once you are ready!

Missy, I go to the dr. on Thurs. this week for my 2wk post-op. I had the baby sent off for testing, and depending on why this happened he may refer me to a fertility specialist. I had a loss in Jan of this year before becoming pg in Feb with this one. The first one was considered chemical. I also had a m/c 10yrs ago, blighted ovum that went to 13wks. But, I do have 4 healthy children, so the dr. thinks it was just bad luck. He also mentioned to me in Jan, that being 38 raises my risk of m/c to 1 out of 3 pregnancies will end in m/c. If I get recommended to a specialist, they will do all kinds of labs, hormone checks, blood clotting disorders and so on. I personally do not believe I have any disorders pertaining to this, (have had every blood clotting test done under the sun for other problems and all of them were negative.) I agree with the Dr. that this was just bad luck.

Im surprised with your losses, they have not tested you for anything else. I would definitely ask when you go back to the dr. They can do these tests for you now, you have had 4 in a row. Hopefully it is something very fixable, most of them are, and you just have to have a script written for you.

Hi hun, I can't speak to the older factor as I am only 28. But this my 2nd miscarriage. AF hasn't arrived yet so I haven't really decided if we are going to do anything different. After my first m/c the only thing that I did different was use preseed. I can't say that it helped me stay pregnant but I was able to get pregnant with my daughter on the first try. So I guess for me it will just be temping, charting, ovulation tests, preseed and a lot of BDing.

Glad to see you're at least thinking about trying even if it is a few months away.

Missy so sorry for you loss...
As for me, dh and I started back in July. Had a chemical pregnancy in Nov. and M/C in Jan. All I was doing was counting 14 days from my cd1 dtd 5 days before and 5 days after I was 28 like clockwork. Since my loss and having a D/E. My cycles are now out of wack it took me 35 days after my d/e for AF to show. This last cycle was 33 days. So this last cycle I did chart and use OPK's. This cylce I will be using OPK's and charting, 5 days before when I think I will be O'ing I will be using the robutussin to thin my CM and have already started taking my folic acid and baby asa. I am going to be 34. This will be the first for dh and I so we need to get started!

I had a m/c last month, it was my first loss. My doctor had blood work done to rule out clotting disorders because of my family history. When I get pregnant again, I was told that I will be monitored more closely from the beginning (levels checked, etc).

Missy-
After my 2nd m/c my OB was good enough to send me an early referral to a RE (reproductive endocrinologist- or fertility doctor), partly because of my age (37 then 38 now) They could not see anything wrong, and though they were flukes. It took me over a month to get into see them. As soon as they did the u/s they saw a cyst in my uterus in exactly the wrong place (right where the baby would attach). Also they did blood work and diagnosed me with Hashimotos (hypothyroid).
So I ended up having surgery to remove the cyst, and am now using MA to help get preggo faster.

Because of your age, I wouldn’t wait, I would try to get into see an RE, they can at least tell you if there is something wrong or not. My original OB I don’t think would have ever seen the cyst or diagnosed it correctly.

Good luck!!

I had 2 completely normal pregnancies when I was 22 and 23. I got pregnant again at 29 and developed a subchorionic hematoma that caused many complications and ultimately ended in a complete abruption at 20 weeks.

We started ttc after my first PP AF and had 2 chemical pregnancies. After my 2nd chemical my OB ran some standard bloodwork and it came up that I have 2 clotting disorders. After a 3rd chemical pregnancy I started an injectable blood thinner and progesterone suppositories after 3dpo and I am almost 9 weeks pregnant now!

Age can be a factor, it may not hurt to have some labs run.
