I have a question for those who charted and/or used OPK's after thier m/c.

Did you cycles change or stay the same? I used to be 28 days.. O'ing around the 14cd.. After my m/c it 35 days.. I wasn't tracking when I O'ed since Dh had just had back surgery and we wern't going to bd. Now looking back I should have just to get an idea of my cycle... Oh well. Now this last cycle was 33 and I o'd about the 18cd-20cd.

So when would you start using the opk's? I was thinking on day 10 to be safe? Do you think that is to early?

I just wanted to get some ideas on what you guys went through.. to see if I am just being to over analytical!

My cycles are all over the place, not to mention the m/c added to the mix. I didn't use OPKs this time around but I'm planning on it next cycle. I ordered 25 from eBay and plan on using 'em every day starting 2 days after AF ends (AF is anywhere from 5-10 days). Hopefully you can get some better answers than mine, though!

I think they usually recommend starting about 3-4 days before your expected O day. I usually get a gradual darkening, so when it started to get noticeably darker, I went to testing 2-3 times a day to make sure I caught the surge. The $ store ones I used had a chart on the back with cycle length and then a recommended cycle day to start testing. I am sure you could find something similar online.

I just don't want to start testing on day 10 and waste all those tests if you think I will stay o'ing on the 18-20cd. Or should I start on the 10cd since I used to O on cd 14? I just wanted to get a feel for what happened to you other ladies..

If I wait to start and miss it.. I will be bumbed! We will be bd as much as possiable.. But I just kinda want to know what my cycles are doing. Since I want to know when I ovulate so I can also keep track if I do get pregnant.. the growth of the baby! And make sure everything is right on schedule.

I am with you Kary. I didn't track at all this last cycle and it created all sorts of havic. My cycles were about 26-30 days and the first one after m/c was almost 5 weeks.

The OPK's I bought on ebay had instructions that gave you a chart for when to start testing.

When to Begin Testing:
The length of the menstrual cycle is the duration from your first menstrual bleeding day to the day before the next bleeding begins. Determine the length of menstrual cycle before test. Please refer to the chart below to determine when you should start testing. If you do not know your cycle length, you may begin the test 11 days after your first period since the average cycle length is 28 days. Perform 1 test each day over a 5-day period (preferably at the same time each day) or until the LH surge has been detected.

For a 28 day cycle it says to start at 12 days... i think that is a little late for my liking. I am going to be starting on CD 10.

I don't think it's a waste of tests to use a few extra when you are just starting to track. The information is too valuable to worry about using a couple of tests. It's much better than missing your surge!!! I say start testing early just to see where you are at.

If your cycles are regular and you always O around CD 18 then I wouldn't start testing on CD 10. I'd wait until CD 13 or 14. But, if your cycle length varies then start testing sooner. I usually start around CD 10 - 12.

Good luck!

My first cycle after the m/c was perfect. I got AF 28 days after the m/c and I O'd exactly 14 days after AF started. I started using the OPK on day 10 and I have to tell you that the lines were almost non-existent until the morning of the day that I got my O pain, so I know that I O'd sometime that night, because when I went to bed I thought my ovaries were going to explode. (I used to get O pain bad before, just not that bad) But I know that everyone is different and for me it seems like my body rebooted itself to a 'perfect' cycle. Before I had Isabelle I was on a 24/25 day cycle. I guess I would start testing around day 11, just to be sure. Good luck!

What i did was buy the cheaper answer brand tests and used them...there are 20 strips in box. When I "thought" it was positive I would then try the CBE digital. You could always find cheap ones and have the expensive ones on hand. I'm having the same problem. After my miscarriage I was regular but after having Wyatt I'm all over the place. I would o on day 10 now I'm day 14. Good luck to you!!
