My Dr put me on Provera or Medroxyprogesterone (generic for Povera) Friday. I took a dose friday evening another dose Saturday evening and another dose Sunday evening and I am due for another dose today. There were 10 pills and I am supposed to take my last one this coming Sunday but it is making me so sick. Did anyone here get sick from the provera and if so what did you do about the sickness. When I say sick I mean it is making me feel sick to my stomach, Dizzy, I am getting hot flashes, I feel like if I bend over for any reason I am going to pass out, I get so sleepy I almost fall asleep standing up, and I feel so fatigued it is unreal. I know these are all side effects of the medication but I am not sure I can deal with it much longer. I have called the DR to see if he wants me to continue to take it but he hasnt called me back yet, so I thought I would ask you girls what you think. I really want to continue to take the Meds so I will get my AF that way DH and I can move on and keep TTC but I dont know how much longer I can stand feeling this way. I am hoping I will start AF today and wont have to continue taking the meds cause I am cramping like AF is going to show but I dont know if she will be here or not cause my DR told me AF wouldnt come until after I took all the meds. I am also supposed to take Clomid between cycle days 5-10 so I am hoping AF comes soon so I can start the Clomid. Anyway if anyone can give me some advice I would really appreciate it. Do I continue to take the meds and just suffer out the sick feeling or do I stop taking the meds and hope like crazy AF Shows? Other than wanting AF to show so bad after my M/C I think this is the only time I have ever wanted AF to show so bad.

I have never taken anything like that, so I am not sure what to tell you. Hopefully some of the other ladies on the board have some advice. The only thing I would say is that you should continue with the full dosing schedule until your Dr tells you otherwise. Hopw you get the relief you need soon!

Provera is pretty strong. It would make sense you are getting sick. It's a progesterone based pill and it's aimed to kick start your cycle. I imagine it would be like speeding up and condensing m/s for you? But if you have issues with hormone imbalance or long cycles, this can get you rolling again. It may be that your doctor wants to be sure that you have a true cycle, not just spotting. Provera does affect the uterine lining. If you have endometriosis, it is prescribed for that (as well as in estrogen therapy). Outside of that, if you get a hold of your doc, great, ask him. I would definitely take it until he decides otherwise. It may make your rounds of clomid that much more acceptable.

I'm not sure if that's the same type of pill as Prometrium. I am on Prometrium which is generally a pill you take orally but you can insert the pill vaginally and it will absorb into your body the same but the side effects are generally less severe.

It may be worth asking about.

Thanks for your explaination. I am going to try to tough it out with the symptoms and keep taking the Provera. I am really wanting to get my AF started and I believe this is the only way. I am having to take the provera because my Dr thinks I didnt ovulate in March. I m/c in december and I had a regular cycle in January and february but in march I didnt have one and the Dr did preg tests and said I wasnt preg that I didnt ovulate. I have had problems like this for about 2 years now. Sometimes I will have a regular cycle for a couple of months and then I will not have a cycle at all for a month or so. About a year ago I went 3 months without haveing a cycle. I thought I was trying to go through early menapause but the Dr said it was just my hormones.

I feel a little better now other than still feeling Dizzy. I got up and made myself clean house and I also ate some and drang some coolaide so I do feel somewhat better now. I am going to continue taking the provera because I want to get stated on my clomid as soon as possible. I cant wait to get my BFP.
