So I had my 2 week check up today and all was great! For some reason I was bracing myself for bad news but all was good! The nurse midwives said my Ultra Sounds were good, that my ovaries are normal all looks fantastic and they see no reason why I can't TTC right away. They suggested I take 1000 mcg of Folic Acid and keep taking my prenatal vitamins and go for it.

I am 40 years old and asked about Progesterone levels ect... We have not had a problem getting pregnant but with 2 losses in 6 months I am concerned. (as we all are)

My first loss was very early and we never even had a doctors appt, this last one was so rough. Saw a heartbeat then it went down to 66 bpm and we knew it was over...

I don't have insurance and to go to a fertility doctor is $300 just for a consult. Do you feel it is necessary for me to go or do you have other suggestions? The midwives said that if I want to I can but did not give an opinion either way, they gave me the referral after I asked the question.

Wow, right this minute I am feeling happy. Just feeling like something is normal in my life right now. (now in 5 minutes I may be crying again, I am on that roller coaster ride).

Thank you everyone,

Missy

I wouldn't yet. I would ask your mid-wives to run the standard tests such as ANA's, anti-cardio lipin antibodies, lupus anticoagulants, etc.

Thanks Alicia. They did all of those tests you mentioned and all came back within the normal ranges or negative.

They also tested for blood clotting, and a whole bunch of tests that all came back normal.

I guess this is me being paranoid that I am going to have another loss if I get pregnant again.

Not sure what to tell you. Did they do inter-vaginal u/s's or abdominal? That woul dbe my only concern, there is a lot you can miss with the abdominal.

Are you getting the progesterone test? If that comes back normal then you may want to keep trying for a few months before you speak to a fertility doctor.

I don't have any more advice for you, but I'm glad that you had a good appointment. I'm hoping and praying that you get your sticky BFP quickly!
