I am new here. I lost my baby last tuesday, I was 6 weeks pregnant. I am finally able to talk about it without crying.

How long should I wait before ttc?
I don't want to wait at all. I want to start ttc right away.

Hi Shannon,

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Have you talked to your doctor at all about TTC again? My doctor said there was no reason medically for me to wait after my miscarriage, however he did recommend waiting one cycle, just so things could get back to normal and it would make it easier to date. I would talk to your doc and see what they recommend for you. Good luck and welcome!

Welcome aboard!

I'm very sorry for your loss!!!

As for waiting, it's completely up to you. Some docs say wait 1 cycle, others say 3 cycles, others say longer. It all depends on how far along you were, and what the doctor thinks is best.

I personally waited a very long time following my m/c.

Good luck!!!

Welcome Aboard.

I am very sorry for your loss. I was also 6 weeks pregnant when I had my M/C. My Dr. told me to wait two cycles before I Tried to concieve again. He said that waiting 2 cycles will reduce my risk of having another M/C. I did wait the 2 cycles but I wish I hadnt because on my Third Cycle I just knew I was going to get pregnant but I didnt Even Ovulate. If I had only waited One cycle and started TTC in February instead of March I may have been pregnant now but I decided to do what the Dr said and wait until march and I ended up having to take Provera to get my period started because I didnt ovulate and I also have to take Clomid this cycle to make sure I do Ovulate this time. It is totally up to you when you want to try again but You may want to ask your DR. Different DRs have different preferences about things like that so me may tell you you dont have to wait at all.

Hi, Shannon. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.

I was advised to wait two cycles after the D&C, but they never gave me a reason. I would also suggest asking your doctor. Otherwise, just go by when you feel physically and emotionally ready.

Hi Shannon, I'm sorry for your loss.
I had a d&c at 8wks 5 days. My ob told me I would get af approximately 4 weeks after d&c and said we could ttc after that. I've read articles on the net that say that not waiting one cycle can increase the risk of another miscarriage and I've seen some ladies on forums who've said they miscarried the 2nd time and wished they'd waited one cycle. However I know there are also a lot of women who go on to have healthy pregnancies and don't wait the one cycle.

For me, I waited the one cycle because I want to give this every chance of 'sticking' and also I think my ob would give me a rap over the knuckles if I didn't listen to his advice! Seeing as he only told me to wait one cycle though, it hasn't been as hard as if he'd advised me to wait longer. Good luck to you.

Welcome. I'm sorry for your loss. And as for when to TTC, I suggest doing what you feel comfortable with and take inconsideration what your dr. told you. We were told to wait 3 months after D & C. We waited 2 months and I have a healthy 7 1/2 month old son. Good luck and i hope you get your BFP soon!

my dr. told me to wait one cycle for dating purposes. she told me that there isn't a greater risk of m/c if you don't wait. she told me that my body wouldn't not conceive if it wasn't ready to do it. Everyone's body is different. I think you have to follow your gut on this one. I waited one cycle, but this second cycle is all screwed up. I O'd a week later than usual. so again, your body probably won't do something it's not ready for. G/L and I am very very sorry for your loss. I have lost two babies in the last year. HUGS
