We met online. It's a dating site. It was a free forum, and we both joined for different reasons, neither of us looking for a date. lol He was just looking for girls to flirt with and I joined because my bff didn't want to be the only person from our area on the site. I even teased her constantly about how stupid it was and how NO ONE was ever going to meet someone online to have a serious relationship with. I knew from the first time we talked on the forums that there was something special about him, and he later admitted that he had to work for a while to get up the nerve to talk to me. lol

When we met face to face I drove from West Virginia to Iowa and we met at the Dairy Queen. And yeah...pretty much love at first sight. Before first sight....whatever. lol We had already talked about marriage and having kids before we ever even met face to face.

I grew up in West Virginia, about 30 minutes or so south of Morgantown WV. It's a little town of just over 5,000 people. It a sleepy little town nestled in the mountains. There is a GORGEOUS lake there. Tygart Lake State Park - A West Virginia State Park And there are the romantic little cabins around the lake. Tygart Lake State Park Virtual Tour of a 2 Person Cabin When we go home for vacation in 3 weeks this is where we are staying.

The town is the home of the International Mother's Day ShrineInternational Mother's Day Shrine and also home to two national cemeteries (the only ones in the state). The first is an older cemetery Cemeteries - Grafton National Cemetery - Burial & Memorials and the HUGE Memorial Day parade (usually a couple hours long) ends here with all the school kids decorating the graves with flowers and flags. The other is a newer cemetery which also has a big Memorial Day ceremony and is where my father is buried. Cemeteries - West Virginia National Cemetery - Burial & Memorials People come from all over the country for Memorial Day. I've only missed being there for the celebration twice in the past 23 years, so I am THRILLED to be going home for it this year.

Hmmm. This is a tough one. Why....because my house needs a lot of work and my landlord hasn't been exactly eager put the money into it. lol Probably my living room. It's by no means something you would see in a magazine or anything, but it's cozy and comfy and we spend a ton of time in here doing things together as a family. Plust there is just enough room that I can park my treadmill in the corner when it's not in use, pull it out and set it up and walk while we all watch tv together and there's room for me to do my workout videos too.

Our oldest is Lady. She is a terrier mix. DH had her before we got together and she is probably 7 years old now.

Next is Callie. She was given to us by some neighbors who moved away and didn't speak English when we got her. lol She had been in a primarily Spanish speaking home, and didn't respond to kitty kitty, but would come running if you said the spanish word for cat.
(I'll have to add a picture of her later.....they are on the other computer.)

Next is Suzy Q. She's part JRT part Boston Terrier. (again....her pictures seem to be on the other computer so I'll add them later.)

Precious is a mouse colored kitten that we adopted last fall. She thanked us by giving all of us (fur and human family members) ringworm. It was miserable! (She is on the left, wearing a collar)

On the right is Stinker. She is a littermate of Precious. She adopted us in February or March I believe. I say she adopted us because we didn't want any more animals. She decided she wanted us though and she would hang on the screen on our front door while we were eating dinner and cry and cry looking through the window. We ended up letting her in and now we love her to death.

And finally we have Nueva. She was our surprise furbaby. Lady is her mommy. We didn't know that Lady was pregnant (she was an outside dog and hadn't had a litter in over 5 years so we didn't think she could have any more). New Year's day the kids took out Suzy and found Nueva in Lady's chair in the garage. Sadly she had three littermates that didn't survive the cold. Lady was trying to keep them warm by pushing them back into the chair she slept in, but she didn't realize she was pushing them right through and onto the floor where she couldn't get to them. We were crushed, and truly consider Nueva to be a miracle puppy.

Favorite memories.... from my childhood would probably be fishing trips with my Dad and my Pap (my father's father). It was a lot of fun and they always made me feel like I was so important. At home my sister got all the attention from my mom so those trips meant a lot to me.

My teenage years...... that would have to be the birth of my daughter. She was born during the first day of spring break my senior year. I had her way too young but I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world.

Adult years.... that is a tie between the birth of my son just one month after my 21st birthday and marrying Matt. He treats me like a princess and it's such a big change from what I was used to from my first marriage that I thank God for him every day. It was a very small ceremony, with only a very few guests, but he was the only one that mattered anyway.
