Hello,

I hope I am in the right place. I lost IVF twins in Dec of 06 and have been TTC and finally found out 4/15 I am pregnant! I went for my first ultrasound on 4/29 ( I was 7w 2d) but all they found was the yolk sac, no fetal pole or hb....I have another u/s sched for tomorrow 5/6. I hope it isn't wishful thinking, but I feel that the first u/s may have been too soon. The doc seemed very quick to say there isn't much of a chance this is a viable pregnancy.
What is the differance between the conception date and the fetal date? Which one is used when doing the u/s....if I was 7w2d at the first u/s, the fetal age would only be 5w2d right?
Help...I am very hopeful, but am I just wishful thinking??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Wish I had some help for you. I can tell you that you are in the right place! These ladies are fantastic. Keep hope and keep us updated on how the u/s goes. I definitely could have been too early at your first ultrasound.

So sorry about the loss of your twins! I can tell you that at 5 1/2 weeks (when I had my first u/s) we could see a fetal pole. That's counting from the first day of the last AF, so the fetal age would have been 3 1/2 weeks. Could you have conceived later than you think and you aren't as far along as you think you are??? That would be my initial thought. Hope your u/s tomorrow goes well and you see a little bean in there. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you. HUGS!!!! KUP.

All those dates get really confusing. I know that here the U/S techs always use the date of your LMP to do the first U/S. then, if you are measuring differently they will note it on your chart and go by the new date for later U/S. Please keep us updated on your progress and let us know how things go at your Dr's appointment!!
