Hi ladies. I have a couple of questions.. I just got my pfb last week.. I went to the doc on thursday and he did blood work, got my results today my number was 92 blood count for hcg??? I am very unfamiliar with this. Now he said I was 4 weeks (gestational age) and the nurse today told me I was 2 weeks.. ( I am guessing fetal age) I am going back on monday to make sure hcg counts are where they should be.. but its so confusing.. from what I have read 92 is good for such an early stage in pregnancy and fetal age, but I have no idea what I am looking at to be honest, andy advice??

My other question is he mentioned the possiblity of going on progesterone, I go back in 2 weeks again and he will check my blood and do an u/s to make sure fetus is growing right, and then consider the option of progesterone. Has anyone used this and are there any real crazy side effects.. heck I have been so irritated it seems lately.. hormones are raging, *yikes*

Last thing, I am sorry I havent been on here alot.. I havent been in the january ddc either lately.. I have been very sick.. all day every day, hard to keep food down, extremely tired during the day and insomnia at night.. (any advice on the insomnia?? something safe to help me sleep at night?? I cant keep going on 4 hrs sleep) I have had finalls all week with school and business is booming keeping me busy.. may actually take a semester off to help lessen the stress!!!

Thanks guys, any advice would be wonderful.. sorry its a long one this time... hope your all doing good and have a wonderful weekend!!

Your number sounds great for this point! 4wks normal range is anywhere from 3 - 426, so looking good there. I think you are right as far as the discrepancy between the Dr and nurse, the gestational vs fetal. And I'm sorry about the insomnia, I can't help you there. I believe if it's really bad there may be a couple of types of sleep aids that may be safe for a little bit, but don't quote me on that. When you go back Monday, ask your Dr.

If you want a non-medicine way to try....I have horrible insomnia. Sometimes it takes me FOUR hours to fall asleep. There is this pillow spray by Bath & Body Works - Lavender & Chamomile - that works WONDERS. Spray it on your pillow & blankets. It smells SO yummy. Try some chamomile tea before bed (sweetened with honey NOT sugar if you need it sweeter). Also, if you can't fall asleep after an hour, turn off the tv and read something. Get your mind off the "omg I can't sleep omg I'm going to be so tired tomorrow" and just let it think about something else. Between those, your eyelids will be drooping away!

Hey Hun, sorry you are having such bad insomnia and so sick!
Your numbers sound awesome! look at betabase.info
I've been on progesterone several times now. They had me on it every cycle after the IUI until AF showed. I'm on it now again, and they will probably keep me on it for another 4 or 5 weeks. I may not need it but they said if I do it is vital, if I don;t that t won't have and effect at all. I have had no side effects from it at all. I am on the vaginal suppositories. I definitely suggest if they give you those lay down for at least 15 minutes after using them. They are messy!!
Good Luck!

I don't have any advice regarding numbers or progesterone, sorry. However, I've suffered with insomnia for awhile now, and it got worse when I was pregnant. Here are a few things that have worked for me:

Imagine a blank sheet of paper - stops my mind from going in circles.
Visualize going somewhere that makes you happy - cover every little detail, like how you got there, how it smells, what you can hear.
Take a warm bath.
Listen to soft music.
Sleep on your side and hug a pillow. I think needing something to hold when I'm falling asleep is one of the reasons that I sleep better when J is there.

I hope you feel better soon! Good luck, hon. *HUGS*

I have been on both oral and vaginal progesterone and definitely prefer vaginal. The oral progesterone was fine at night (it will put you to sleep so could help) but I cant operate normally throughout the day when I take it in the AM.

Your number sounds great to me. There is such a wide range of normal numbers, the important thing is that they are doubling every 2-3 days. As Melissa suggested, vaginal progesterone is supposed to be good. From what I understand from other ladies I know that use it, it kind of enhances pregnancy symtoms because of all the extra hormones.
As for the insomnia, I had the same thing for the first 3 weeks I got my bfp. I had spoken to the nurse at the drs office and she said there was nothing to take that was safe so early in the pregnancy. She recommended the lavendar scent as well as either low/light music or the tv on. The tv on has been helping me. She said the further along you get, you could probably take benedryl to help you sleep.
I hope you feel better soon and get some rest.

Your hcg number looks great. With all my kids my hcg around 13dpo was 60ish. The important thing is that the numbers double every couple of days. Sorry can't help with the insomnia, but maybe a nice warm bath and a massage before bedtime would help.

Hi Nick, (Nicky's sister here )

I would try not to nap during the day, this could be messing up your sleep pattern/body at bedtime. Get into a really good bedtime routine, take a bath and relax each night after J. goes to bed. Stick to the same routine for a few weeks.

I had horrible insomnia with Logan but it was after he was born.

xxx

Thanks guys for all your advice.. it was back to the doc this morning for more blood work.. waiting for them to call me back with the numbers.. feel sick thinking about it, I think after losing one baby I am just so scared. I know this is a time I should be yelling yee haaw and having a blast, but its soooo scary... I just hope those numbers at least doubled, or trippled, considering my last count was Thursday.. fingers crossed!!!
