Hey Ladies.
Well, I got AF three days ago and it's been really heavy and this morning a whole bunch of clots came out. It's been over 4 months since my first m/c but I'm wondering if I may have had one again.

Has anyone experienced blood clots four months after their m/c? I am kinda nervous because maybe something is wrong with my body and keeping babies!

Jen

I'm so sorry. I think you need to see your doctor. It could just be a heavy month, or it could be an early m/c.

I had a heavy, clotting month several months ago and I'm certain it was a m/c, simply because in the midst of all those dark red clots, I passed a kind of dark lavender/purplish clot - which I am sure (sadly due to experience) was my little bean.

I hope it's just a heavy month for you...but you really need to check with your doctor to see if s/he can tell you or not.

Give your doctor a call. I have had two mc. I had a few small clots and the mc was grey in color. I don't know if this happened to anyone else but i had very little blood. The only time anything passed was when I went to the bathroom. Anytime I have gone off the pill I have also had heavy periods. So much so that I have dreaded going off of it. I get lots of cramps too. But only way to know for sure is the Dr.

Take care and praying all is well.

I ttc for 8 months after my mc and some were heavy months, others were super light. If you are worried, call your dr. but this could be very normal.

I have only had 3 Afs since my m.c and the first 2 were heavy and had clots and the third was really really lite. Before the miscarriage I had heavy clotty Afs. So I dont think about it if I get them but if you dont usually have the AFs like that I would say that you should call your dr.

One thing I do wanna say is that a friend of mine has lite Afs and this month she had a heavy clotty long AF and come to find out she didnt ovulate this month which is why it was so strange. Are you sure you O maybe that is why your Af is like that??

I'm pretty sure I O'ed but who knows! I got a positive OPK (which doesn't mean you will O) and I had all the symptoms.

I hope it's just a heavy month. Thanks ladies for the input!

Hrmm, I'm not sure. I get some clotting pretty much every month that I get AF...so I'm not really sure what to tell you. It's been happening since I was about 13...so for me it is normal!

I did find this information on http://onewoman.com:

Blood is pushed out of your uterus when the uterus contracts (you don't necessarily feel these contractions, but when they are strong, you feel them as cramps). The uterus releases "anti-coagulants" during menstruation. These are supposed to keep the blood from clotting up as it passes from the uterus to the vagina, thus making the whole bleeding process easier.

But if you have days of heavy cramps and heavy bleeding, you may pass dark, chunky clots of blood. On such days your contractions are so fast and so strong that the blood gets forced out before the anti-coagulants have time to take effect. So the blood clots. And you pass big chunky gobs of stuff.

If the clots you are passing are larger than, say, a quarter, you might want to ask your doctor about it, because that indicates that your periods are quite heavy, and they might want to check for fibroids (benign tumors).

Shasta, thank you so much! You are so reassuring!! I think it was just normal bleeding and those clots were just want you said...normal. They weren't bigger than a quarter and it happened in the morning after taking a tampon out. So maybe the blood had been "building" all night and just came out.

Thank you!!
