When they did your transvaginal ultrasound do you remember if they moved the probe around to look at everything? The dr. barely put the probe in and as soon as she did our little bean was there with his/her beating heart. She didn't move the probe at all...up, down, to the right or left. Just let it sit there. The reason I ask is when she was done I said, "Thank god we have a little heartbeat. And that there is only one on top of that." I explained my mom was a fraternal twin and I would of freaked if there were two b/c Wyatt is so young. She got this look on her face...it's hard to explain like shock or something. And said well I only saw the one today. DH said something about it last night. I'm pretty sure that if there were two they would of been able to see it but it still scares me that she had that look on her face!!!

Hi Amanda, I know I am not Sam but I kind of had the same experience the last time i was pg. We have twins in our family and I asked the same type of question. The tech told me that as early as I was (7 weeks) that there is a good chance an u/s wouldn't pick up a second fetus or heart beat.

By the way, when she did the trans u/s she did move it around a bit.

Hope there is just one little bean in there. You will already have your hands full with Wyatt and on newborn.

Good Luck!

I am gonna jump in and answer you too!!! We had a transvag u/s at 8wks2d and the tech did move the probe around a lot, but for several reasons- I have a tilted uterus so it takes a minute to get the probe in the right place AND I specifically asked her to look at my left ovary because I had recently had some pretty sharp pain there and wanted to see if there was any sign of a cyst. I also asked if there was only one and she was certain that there wasn't another one in there

When I had DS I had a transvag because I was still nursing when I got pg with him (no period-no way to date pg). It was very fast and I don't remember being in the room for more than a few minutes- they didn't do anything but check the HB and measure to see how far along I was.

Don't worry, if the worst that happens is that you are blessed with twins it will one day be the best thing that ever happened to you!!! Speaking as a BTDT mom with "Irish twins" (mine are 14 months apart) the hardest part was not having a 1yr old and a newborn- newborns have a wonderful way of staying exactly where you leave them The hard part was having a 1yr old and a 2yr old AT THE SAME TIME!!! I don't think there is enough redbull in the world to keep up the energy level you need at that point!!!! Luckily it calms down. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed every minute (I am a SAHM) but there were times it was pretty nerve wracking!!!! LOL I know everything will work out- twins or not!!!

FYI - with my last m/c it took 2 u/s before they saw twins. My first u/s was at 8 weeks, then 9

They did move it around but they were also checking my ovaries.
But they other sack was visible at the same time as our big bean, you could see them clearly. They did move it a bit around to make sure they weren’t missing anything, but it was just the two. I’m sure you would have been able to see if there were two.

I figured they would of seen it if there was another one. I was just concerned because she didn't have the probe in very far and had that weird look on her face. Thanks girls!!

When I had my u/s she moved it around a little bit, but not much. In fact it wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as I thought it would be.
