I posted this on another board that I sub to but all of the ladies here have a much different view than the other board. What do you think?
I hit a all time low tonight. I have been so excited about TTC again, but I got a letter in the mail today from a specialist that I had written off since I have been waiting months for an appointment. Long story short, in the new year they found a pituitary gland tumor which has been causing tons of hormone problems. I saw my first specialist three months ago and he was a total dink. I left the appointment crying and wanting to give up. My doctor requested another specialist but I haven't heard anything until today. I have been feeling better for a few months so i thought I could go on with my life.
My appointment is July 14th, I don't know if I should hold off TTC till that time or just see where this all takes me. Just lost and upset right now.

Oh wow... I'm very sorry you've had to wait so long!!!
Maybe make an appointment with your doctor to see what he/she suggests in regards to waiting or going ahead with trying. The specialist you're going to see might want to do some serious testing on you, and that could effect a pregnancy.
I'm sorry I'm not of that much help!!!
Good luck to you!!!

oh that is a tough decision to make... is there any chance you can get on a cancellation list with the specialist? to maybe get in sooner... so maybe you won't have to wait too long?
best of luck with everything

That is tough to have to wait for your appt but on the other hand, it could really be worth waiting for? Without knowing more about your condition I guess it's hard to know what is the 'right' thing to do but I guess it's important to look after your own health first to give you the best chance of carrying your baby to term and you both being happy and healthy. But I know that's probably not what you want to hear.
Good luck and

Are your hormone fluctuations something that could possibly be controlled while pg? I assume your specialist is to figure out treatment for the tumor?

Sorry you are going through this and it just sucks that you have to wait for a specialist appointment for so long. Isn't it crazy that in your time of need you have to wait for these doctors. The system in Ontario is just beyond my understanding. Anytime somene mentions "tumor" it sounds serious to me. I'm assuming this specialist is not a fertility specialist, but someone who is to help you remove the tumor or control the hormones. I would wait until the appointment to see what type of treatment this doctor wants to do. Just becaause if it involves something that could harm a baby, I don't think I would want to risk it, but you should look after your health first. See if you can get in if there is a cancellation, but July isn't that far away. I would hold off for just a bit longer. Good luck!!!

I am so sorry you are going through this and had an awful appointment too.
I would personally wait to TTC until you at least speak to your primary care doctor about what your treatment options are for that condition. Being pregnant can really limit what treatments can be done and hormones are really important for you and for the baby. I think waiting until you know will be worth it so you can be a healthy mommy for your little one.
Hugs, I am sorry if you do end up having to wait On a side note we are thinking about TTC again in July, you'll have me to lean on!

I just wanted to say I'm sorry your dealing with this. I know my words dont help and its not what you want to hear, but if you have to have surgery on this tumor....... then i would consider waiting till you find out something. I would demand you see some kind of specialist much sooner then July!!!
On a side note....I've been been through this before, When I was 22 I had to have extensive surgery to get a tumor removed. I wish you the best of luck and I'm so sorry your dealing with both of these things**********Hugs to YOU*************

thanks everyone, I should have stated that you can live with the tumor it will never be cancerous or life threatening just a hug pain in the behind. It can make your hormones go all over the place. The specialist is a endocrinologist/neurologist.
trish36- ontario is bad but I lived in BC for the last three years until a couple of months ago, and their medical sucks. they are great if are a logger and cut something off, but Female problem they are awful and clueless.
I'm still on the fence, the appointment is only 6 weeks away, and I have been dealing with this for 2 years now. So another 6 weeks is a drop in the bucket.
But on the other hand when you have finally made that decision that you are ready to try again after loss it hard it put it on hold.

I hate having to wait to see specialists!
If I were in your situation - I would keep TTC. When they diagnosed my m/c they also found "something" on my liver and I had to go back for a f/u u/s 3 months later to see if it was growing. I was stressed, but we kept TTC. (Thankfully it was nothing to worry about).
Thankfully the appt is only 6 weeks away.

Just wanted to say good luck on whatever you decide! Just talk it out with DH and go with your gut instinct. I like the idea of trying to get in sooner on a cancellation though. I get impatient waiting!

Well DH and myself come to the conclusion that we will still keep trying. The appointment is only six weeks away and we have only been trying for 2 cycles. So we will see what happens. Thanks for all the support all of you ladies rock!!!!

Good luck!! If this tumor/hormone issue wont hurt you/your baby.. than I would continue to ttc. If it happens before the appt GREAT! If not.. at least you didn't waste the time with what if's... KUP!

Wishing you the best of luck, Aimz! I'm glad that the tumor isn't anything serious, but sorry it causes so much dilemma!

The first specialist I saw was a total jerk but he said that we could still TTC with no problem. I was looking for a second opinion because the one was not the type of doctor you really want to ask questions to or even have to deal with ever. Total GOD complex!! So hopefully this new one will have more information for me.
We have been waiting to TTC since we lost our first pregnancy almost a year ago. But with no real answers and waiting between 6 and 7 months for appointments for specialist. You just get to the point where you need to move on with everything and live your life.

I would wait to TTC and try to get the appointment moved up. I'm sorry that you're dealing with this but your health is important to you and your future child.
