I've been thinking about my situation and I think I've come to some sort of conclusion of how I want to proceed. I'm just so tired about obsessing about DTD at the right time and again obsessing about the EPS and ending up disappointed in the end.
First of I believe that I may have an issue with my progesterone levels. I'm self diagnosing here, but just from my history point of vew it kind of makes sense. Maybe those of you who are on progesterone supplements could tell me if I'm right.
Even before I got pregnant with Isabelle I was pretty much on a 24 day cycle. I kind of know when I O, because I'm in extreme pain on that day and it used to be around day 10-12. A bit of history on me: I had my first in '99, my second in '03...with both we just decided to go for it (well my first was a surprise kind of) and got pregnant right away. my cycles were regular 28 days then. Then we decided to try for #3 in '06 and it took us 3 months...my cycles were already 24 days for about a year and I think I just got lucky. then after I had Isabelle I went on the pill for 6 months. got off in Oct. and had 1 regular cycle then got a weird short cycle and then got pregnant with the baby we lost. So now I'm back to having these short 22 -27 day cycles again it looks like. From what I've heard and read it sounds to me like my progesterone is too low to sustain a pregnancy and that's why AF comes so soon. Does that make sense?? OMG this has turned into a novel....sorry guys.
Anyway I have decided that I we will NTNP and see what happens. I'm not going to give up, but I am not going to stress out over it anymore...... if it's meant to happen it will. I will also make an appointment at a fertility clinic and get checked to see what's up with those cycles.

Sounds like a good plan. I would def talk to your dr and tell them your concerns, a good dr will run a few simple tests and let you know if your concerns are valid!!

Your dr can definitely test you for this. But in my opinion, I do not think you have a progesterone deficiency. Your cylce length has nothing to do with low progesterone. Its your lutel phase that will show the defect. So you could have a 21 day cylce and ovulate on day cd7 or 8, and have a normal lutel phase of 13days. I had this cycle for my first 4 children. Always 21 days and always ovulated between 5 and 8th day of my cylce.
Plus with you having three children already with no supplements, it would be a very low chance that you had progesterone issues, unless of course you are nearing the 35 and older crowd. My dr. explained this to me in this way when I asked him the same question.

Well I am 36, so that could be the reason.

If you really feel it could be progesterone and your doctor won't test you, you can buy progesterone cream at most pharmacies. My doctor did not test me but put me on supplements just in case, told me if I didn't need them it would have no ill effects. It may just give you some piece of mind to do something. Just make sure that when you do get your BFP, that you tell your Dr. you have been using the cream. And read the package guidlines- you don't want to use it before you O.

I would ask my Dr. We all know that TTC can take time, but if you have concerns you may as as well address them now! Good luck.

I truly thing that if you feel that you "know" something about yourself, your instincts are usually right. And you should trust your instincts! Do you chart and temp? I don't know too much about progesterone deficiency but in the book "Taking charge of your Fertility", it says if you chart and temp for a few months and bring that in to your doctor, it's really helpful in diagnosing stuff like that. Good luck!

vitamin b6 is meant to help lengthen your luteal phase... after all my testing is done, if they can't find an issue, then I will start taking it if they don't put me on something else. You should take about 100mg a day.

I also feel I have an issue with Progesterone, but my dr. won't put me on supplements until I get a BFP... I've also asked for BT's to check my hormones, but he won't do it since he says I have regular periods and I O each month! I know that doesn't really help in answering your question or your dilemma, but just thought I'd share... I feel your frustration, hon! I've taken B6 to help lengthen my LP, and it definitely helped with that, but unfortunately, not in giving me a quick BFP. Have you checked into blocked tubes or endometriosis? That's where I'm at after a year of TTC after my last m/c... Wishing you the best of luck!

Thanks Ladies... I have started taking B6 last cycle, so we'll see if it helps. I'm right now waiting for an appointment with the fertility clinic to do all the tests.
