I'm almost convinced to start temping

Which thermometer do you use? (Brand name, and digital or BBT) How do you like it?

Thank you!

I just bought a new one today from Walgreens (their brand).... it's a digital Basal thermometer, and it has temp recall, so you don't have to get out of bed to write down your temp before the therm. turns off! It cost $12.

I had just bought one about 2 weeks ago from Target (their brand) that claimed it had temp recall, but it didn't... so I've been getting up at 5 am for the last 2 weeks! Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow!

HTH! Good luck1

That's really weird Jen. I have the Target brand one and mine recalls the last 5 temps. Very convenient when I forgot to record for a couple of days! Mine is a BBT, but it is also digital. It beeps when it's done, which is good for me, because I temp vaginally. It tends to be more accurate, since things like sleeping with your mouth open can effect your oral temperature. The other thing I like about the Target one is that the battery can be replaced, which not all of them have. Some brands just require you buy a new one.

Hey Karissa--Is there some special technique to seeing your previous temp? With my older one that I ordered online, and with my new one from Walgreens, when you turn it on it displays the previous temp.... for some reason the Target one won't do it! Just wondered if you had to push the button twice or use some other technique to get it to display the last temp? I also didn't like how the Target one is flexible... makes it to where you have to hold it steady or it feels like it's going to droop right out of your mouth! It was the cheapest BBT thermometer I could find (about $10) , and there was only 1, so maybe we tried different versions of their brand of therm.'s... I would think one that holds 5 temps is probably one of the more expensive ones!

Now that I've gone and probably confused everyone! Sorry!

This is the one I just bought yesterday. Only used it once so far but it seems to work well. My previous one was from CVS but I actually like the Target one better. The CVS one seemed to take FOREVER to get a temp and then the memory recall function didn't always work.

The cheap CVS brand one I bought was supposed to have recall.. But that option is not working.... GRRR.

Penelope,

I work nightshift so as long as I get 4-5 hours straight sleep I temp. Never the same time, the same day. But my temp/opks/and FF have all been coralating. I have been using it for a guideline. Sometimes (like last month, If I didn't get a low work day at work (too many staff for the patients on the floor... they ask nurses if they want to go home) I had the + opk I would have waited 12 hours until I got home.) Still missed the egg last month.. But I have been just using a regular digital, orally temping. If I could have a basal I would have bought it. But couldn't so regular digi works.

Jen, the $10 one is the one I got. You have to hold it down until it beeps. It will display the most recent temp, then if you push it again for each temp you want to see, it goes backwards. You have to push the button within a couple of seconds once it switches to the recall though or it will switch back to temp mode.

I bought mine online from earlypregnancytests.com it was only $8.95. It has recall as well - you have to hold the button down to see the last temp.

Whichever one you get, make sure it reads to the hundredth of a degree. Your chart will be much more accurate. Some brands say they're BBT, but they only read to the tenth of a degree.

Good luck!

Ok, ok, I'm lame..... YES, the Target brand one works! I swear, I tried every combo of pushing the button... then yesterday I walk in, hold down the button for a few seconds, and up pops my last temp! What a waste of 2 days of temps! At least now I have 2 thermometers in case I lose one! What a bonehead!
