I have dr. appointment on Friday - will be 4dpo. I was going to ask my dr. to put me on progesterone, just in case that is the reason for my short LP. I don't have my specialist appointment until August and my famility dr. is pretty good about stuff. My question is: can it be bad???? I mean let's say that's not my issue and I take the progesterone supplement, would too much cause problems? And I don't mean side effects like constipation or nausea. Has your doctor prescribed it for a "just in case" type of reason.

No, from what I understand any "extra" your body doesn't need, it will just get rid of.

I had no evidence of low progesterone, had never had a problem with it and didn't even have a short LP and my OB prescribed it for me before this pregnancy just in case.

I started it at 3dpo and stayed on it until 13 weeks.

I would really ask him about starting it after ovulation. Most research suggests that if progesterone is going to help, starting it prior to your BFP is the best way to do it.

I take on the third day after ovulation all the way up to 12 weeks, I have no history of m/c, my doctor said it couldn't hurt to take it, he gives it to everyone

I agree with Alicia, I don't think it will harm you if you don't 'need' it.
