After waiting for over 4 weeks for my test results...they are back...and I'm positive for the MTHFR!!!! I know it's wierd but I'm soooooooo pleased. I just knew something wasn't quite right. I feel like there are actually steps I can take to deal with this and hopefully have a healthy pregnancy. I don't know all the details yet because I had to talk to the nurse. The nurse practicioner (who I usually see) is doing some research and checking my other results and will get back to me on Monday.
I feel really good about moving forward!

Glad you figured out what was going on and hopefully with some treatment you will have a beautiful baby to hold in no time! There was a link I posted in another MTHFR topic yesterday that might be of some use to you.

I'm glad that you have a diagnosis. I read in the other thread about MTHFR yesterday and I had never heard of it before. I learn so much from you all.

I'm glad that you got an answer! I hope that the game plan that you and your doctor come up with brings you a quick and sticky BFP. Please KUP!

I'll keep you all posted on my "treatment"...the nurse practicioner is "doing research" to decide if she will treat me herself or send me to the high risk pregnancy doc in town (for a pre conception visit). I'm going to double my folic acid and add a baby aspirin on my own right now. I figure I'm a couple days out from O and I might as well take some action on my own so maybe I can get a BFP this cycle.

MTHFR stands for Methyltetrahydrafolatereductase. Basically it inhibits your body's ability to absorb most B vitamins, including folic acid. It can raise homocysteine levels in the blood and can cause blood clots. Plus the lower absorbtion of the B vitamins can cause neural tube defects.

Hey, I just got my results back and I am positive for that as well. The dr. didnt seem to worried and I knew nothing about this until I got home and did some more research. I am assuming that is not too serious and my dr. just suggested baby aspirin next time I get pregnant (which I actually just started taking now just in case) and the extra vitamins. I am hoping this will help if I get pregnant again. I have lost my last 2 pregnancies and but I never had any issues while I was pregnant with my son so I am a bit confused. Do you have any kids already? I would totally appreciate any new info. you find out as it seems to help me hearing it from real people instead of stuff you read on the internet. Thanks.
