I am about to blow a gasket!!! If I am pregnant right now I am so S-R-E-W-E-D!!! Open enrollment is happening right now at work.. A year ago when I finished school I was part time (prior to June 11). After June 11th I took a full time position as a RN. When I went to fill out the forms for short term I gave the guy all my information including my new pay.(almost 2 1/2 what I was making) I got the papers in the mail I looked at them very briefly.. saw $700. I thought that was a pay preriod. ok... SO I went to talk today to see I could raise to the $2000 a month..(a few nurses were talking on the floor and that what they got) She says to me... "Are you full time?, I have you as part time and you are only signed up for 700 a month" I said I can't live on that for 3 month.. She was ok.. We will set you for the 2000 as of Aug 1st. I was like what If I get pregnant before than. I would only be covered for the 700 a month!!! I would have to go right back to work as soon as I gave birth! My husband is laid off right now... he is trying to get into the union if he does he would only be making 550 a week pre taxed and dues..... We would be totally out of luck... and than trying to pay for a baby.... I am so mad I am seeing RED!!!! All the woman could say is I'm sorry.... SORRY???? Are you kidding me?? SORRY?? Your company screwed up.. I now have to decide If I'm not pregnant are you going to put off a month?? We have been try and nothing... and to hold off a whole month!!!! GGGGGGGRRRRRR SO PO"D, I am ready to SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad :

That sucks that they screwed up! But I don't understand what you mean by 700 a month or 2000 or month.

Hugs hun..! God that is so stressful!!! Take a night to sort things out and raise hell again with someone different tomorrow... sometimes you just need to find the right person who knows how to fix things!!! I hope you get it worked out somehow!!!!!

Oh no....how awful! I would try to speak to a manager at that company to see if they can fix it, since they messed up. That is a big difference in pay. Did you mean that they would change it starting from Aug. this year or next year? Why do you have to wait that long? Why not change it right away? Is there a timeframe you have to wait until you get the coverage when they change it?? Maybe they can somehow waive that wait period. Sorry you have to deal with this right now!

I agree... i would be PISSED. I would see what I could do about back dating it since it was never clearly explained at the beginning and certainly not what was intended. Also, I would do ASAP so they can not argue that you are only doing it because you already know you are pg. As of today you do not know that so you are not lying when you say you are not. I really hope it works out for you!!

Sue- the 700 a month .. I was only working part-time 20 hours a week. We get paid bi-weekly (2 a month) and I was making 14 an hour. So that is were they go the 700 a month. When the guy looked up everything he took what I was making as a part time employee. When I went to sign up for fulltime benifits.. with my shift diff I now make 29.50 an hour. So a big pay increase from 14 dollars. I thought it was 700 bi-weekly when the paperwork came in. I didn't question it (I don't insurance crap.. thats why I meet with the guy) So now they have to open a whole new claim. NO way to back date, and when I spoke to the rep she said thier is nothing they can do! So If I test in the morning and it is positive I am SOL!!!! I will ask if it is when it is document pregnant or when I concieved..... It that is the case... If I'm not prgenant... I can still try next month.. and just hold out to go the dr untill Aug 1st. If I do get a bfp..... I don't think it would be a good idea to wait that long if I do get a BFP today... I would be almost 12 wks by that time!!!!!

I am so sorry everything is screwed up! Are you getting paid $700 when you're supposed to get $2000? Or is it that your insurance coverage isn't covering you as a full time employee b/c they have you in as a part time? I just can't imagine working full time and not getting paid the right amount, that's illegal. I would go to HR and payroll immediately! Sorry again hun, I hope it all gets figured out asap

I am a little confused...are you worried that you wont get coverage for being PG by switching between the two plans? Because its illegal to treat pregnancy as a pre-existing condition and deny your claims.

DH and I didn't add me to his insurance right away when we got married - he had 60 days....and there was some severe panic when we found out I was pregnant RIGHT after getting married. They backdated it to our wedding day (first day of coverage) and we had to pay for the back-dated insurance but I was covered.

I am sorry for the confusion.... If I were to get pregnant right now. In Feb (that would be my EDD) when I would be able to go out on short term disabilty I would only get 700 dollars a month. To stay at home with my baby for the 6-12 wks depending on what my Dr would right for (When he would release me back to work). Right now my takehome pay is almost 3000 a month. So I could live on 2000 (That is what I was trying to increase my short term disabilty to).(I could of even pulled off the 1400... what I thought I was going to get, Thank GOD I didn't get hurt up untill this point) Not on 700. Our mortgage is about 1800... 1590 and a home equity loan of 230. My dh is laid off... he is trying to get into the local union. He will be only making about 550 (that is before taxes and union dues) So that would a monthy total of about combined income of 2500. Only leaving 700 for the regular bills.... Our electrical bill is 236 a month (I am on easybill, I pay the same amount evey month) Our oil is another 100 a month (again same payment every month), Water/trash/sewer is about 80 a month (water is monthly about 30, trash is 89 every 3 months, same with sewer 93). ..... SO far we are down to $284.... My husbands meds are 100 a month (he has MS so he has an injectable, and two other meds he needs) We now have 184 left. (Above are only the nessesties.) I haven't even counted in food,diapers, formula (If I can't breastfeed), gas, phone, the student loans. We would be able to make it If they would of done the paperwork for my short term diasabilty correcty. The adittional 1300. Would cover everything and I would of been able to stay out the first 6-12wks. Now if I am pregnant. I will only have 4 1/2 wks vacation time. (If NOTHING happens in the next 9 months that requires me to take a day.... death, dr apt, my dh getting sick)

SO the reason I am so mad.... is these peoples screw up... might make me miss the first few months that I could be spending 24-7 with my new little angel. So Now I am PRAYING this is NOT our month. And than on the other hand... I just want a baby!!!!!! GRRRRRR I am SOOOO MAD at thier screw up!!!!!

Right now I am getting paid correctly every week... But IF something made me go out for short term... Like I broke my leg... We wouldn't be able to make ends meet for very long!

Short term disabilty covers you for the first 3 months of illness/acident/pregnancy Untill Long term diasabilty if needed kicks in. We can sign up once a year and make changes only at that time. And is only used when needed (like an insurance policy) Supossed to be like your income, when you can't work.

I heard from the rep today..... NOTHING they can do. They are sending out the paperwork for me to sign (IF I AM NOT PREGNANT) That will become effective Aug 1st. If I do test positive in the next week. I will only get the 700 a month.... and have to keep that policy untill next June!!!!!!! So this means if something happens (illness, accident, pregnancy what ever... ) And I am out of work I am stuck with this crapy policy untill then...

If I'm not pregnant with in the next week. I can fill out the policy... She is checking into what date they go by... If I were to get pregnant next month and wait till Aug 1st to go to the Dr. will I be covevered.... Since I would be almost or about 8 wks preggers...

Why cant I just get pregnant and have a full pregnancy... and a healthy baby, with out all this BS???
