My boss is not the most sensitive caring type of person, if you kwim. She's old school and has no kids - just her and her dh. I'm surprised she hasn't retired yet, but that's another topic. ANyway she's been asking my co-worker if I was pregnant (she does know about the m/c), because I've been going to the bathroom a lot. WTH? I always go to the bathroom alot. I guess she's been speculating and it must have been eating her up alive because today she came straight out and asked me: "you're not pregnant are you??" like it would be the worst thing ever. how rude! I was stunned for a second and said "uh, no....must be all the chocolates I've been eating lately". She actually said " oh, it must be what you are wearing". ughhh!!! I know I have a bit of a stomach and I was probably a bit bloated, but can you say rude and insensitive. My DH thought I looked hot today and then she goes and says something like that to me. grrrrrr!!!!!!!!
How can you ask someone who lost a child in this manner? Like I'm gonna tell her that we've been trying with no success. She made me so mad today.
I should have said something smart back to her, but just couldn't think of anything.

I'm sure they are constantly thinking I"m pg again too, but like you said, i'm not gonna say i've been trying unsuccessfully!! geesh!! i'm sorry she was so rude to you, i probably would have drawn a blank on the retort too...out of sheer shock that someone would say something like that!!

I'd just start your day again with your dh saying you were HOT and forget the rest! I'm sorry she was so blunt and rude. No one is game to even ask me that question because I have indicated that I don't even want to talk about if we are trying again or not. Obviously we are, but I just don't feel like I want to talk to people IRL about it and have anyone speculating.

OMG I HATE YOUR BOSS! And hell, who cares what she thinks... your DH knows you're hot and he's the one married to you! She's just probably jealous of how great you looked and wanted to make you feel bad because she thinks "going to the bathroom a lot" means you're A) pregnant and that B) that's a bad thing. What a witch with a capital B. Yuck!!!! Sorry hun!!!!!

What a big ol meanie witch! She should be careful asking about that b/c it can be considered harassment and a lawsuit is not uncommon in a situation like that. She has no right to ask you if you are pg, trying, or were, it's not her business. I had some MAJOR issues with my previous boss when I was pg---she told me I had to tell all the parents in my classroom so they know that I'd be leaving, and I was like yeah ok, I'm 6 weeks along you stupid hag I'm not telling 30 ppl I pg. I actually ended up getting fired/walking out.

Anyway, next time ask her if she's pregnant.

Yeah, she's something allright. Has absolutely no people skills. I'm tempted to wear a shirt that says: 'no I'm not pregnant, just fat!' to piss her off..but she probably woldn't even get it. So not worth it. DH thinks I'm hot and that's all that matters.
