I went to see my family dr. and asked her about my progesterone levels with my previous pregnancies. Of course she never checked for that. So I told her that AF is always like 22 days long - LP arond 10 day, and that I'm wondering if my progesterone is low. She gave me a requisition for blood work to check the levels. Now, I think she had a 'brain fart' because she told me the best time to check is at 7 days after AF. I didn't want to argue with her, but I think she meant 7dpo, right??? what sense would it make to do it before I O'd. So I will go on Monday and do the blood work. Don't think I can save this cycle if that is the issue, cause it may be too late by the time I get the results, but at leasst I'll know what my levels are. I think she also wrote estrogen on the form.
Do you know what the levels are supposed to be post O?

Hmmm, maybe she said 7 days past AF because they want to see what your levels are at before you O to see if that's what it big issue is. Does that make sense? I'm confused now too...

I found this info for you...

Progesterone levels after ovulation (midluteal, middle of the second half of the cycle) in a nonpregnant patient are generally at least 8-10 ng/ml. Much lower levels usually mean you did not ovulate. Progesterone levels can change from one day to the other, from one hour to the next, from one laboratory to the next. After you eat, progesterone levels can drop by as much as 50%, that's why the blood test should be done in the morning and before you eat. Progesterone levels are usually well below 5-10 ng/ml without ovulation. If you are pregnant, progesterone levels are usually at least 10-12 ng/ml to have a better chance of a good pregnancy outcome and most doctors like to see progesterone levels around 16-18 ng/ml or more though there are many successful pregnancies with lower levels.

Thanks Jess. Great, I don't think I can do the blood test in the morning. will have to be in the eveining. Maybe I'll go to the lab near my work as soon as I come in. Just have to wait before eating breakfast.

Can you call and clarify with the DR. or a nurse to be sure you are going at the right time?

Good luck with everything!

yeah when I went in for my level testing It was alwasy 7 DPO.

Anything above a 2.something means you O'd but its not strong enough. Levels shoud be at least 10... ideally above 15.

I was wondering if you could clarify with your doctor or a nurse, too.

Good luck, hon! KUP!
