I have been given some opk's and Im not sure how to use them.. they didn't come with directions lol... so, just needing some help.

some of them seem to be midstream tests.. the others are "dippers"

do i have to wait x amount of time between drinking and pee'ing? do i have to do it at the same time each day? any other advice? information? etc etc.

I've only just started using them this cycle and I've heard a lot of ladies say the instructions vary depending on the brand. So I am definitely no expert but I'll tell you what my instructions said. Mine came with a cup so I 'dipped'(!) for ten seconds it said. It said it could be done at any time of day but it did say to restrict fluids for two hours beforehand as otherwise the urine is diluted which can affect the results of the test. it also said to test about the same time each day - so I guess once you pick a time/s, try to stick to those times. Some ladies told me they tested twice a day - around 11 am and then again at 4pm.

It said to look at the result after 5 minutes, and to discard results after 8 minutes.

Hey Bel,
I use them in the arvo @ 1pm and make sure I have a full bladder the mid stream just pee on lol and the other ones collect and dip for about 20 seconds then lay flat I start testing from day 11 just in case but never get +'s till around 14 or 15 and I keep peeing until I get a negative because I can get +'s for 3 or 4 days if you need help reading feel free to email me pics I dont mind the first cycle I had trouble. I have to use them in the morning just doesnt work for me otherwise..
I test from day 11 too and they say you can get a + and o 12 - 36 hours later...
Also the positive is obvious, both lines will be THE SAME COLOUR..

I used two different kinds (poas and piac) and the directions the ladies are giving you are pretty accurate If you want to get more details about reading them, accuracy, etc... have your tried peeonastick.com? just wondering. that site has helped me figure out directions, brands, etc...

Definitely do not use FMU! I usually test mid morning and late afternoon (yes, twice a day - I'm a control freak!). Read the results at 5 minutes and discard any results after 10 minutes. Good luck!

ok, so don't use fmu...

so say I the best time of the day for me to do it is going to be when I get home from work at 6:15pm. does that mean I have to empty my bladder at 4:15pm and then not drink anything else until after I do the OPK test?
