My sister started getting the 'contraction' pains last night pretty bad. So far she's only been bleeding lightly and her dr. pretty much said to wait it out and she would probably m/c on her own. She called me last night in severe pain, which lasted about a couple of hours, but her bleeding didn't increase nor did she pass any tissue. Now the pain has stopped and her bleeding is minimal.
Can any of you tell me if you've had a similar experience and went on to m/c natrually still - should she expect a repeat of last night. I guess she doesn't want to wait forever, what if she doesn't pass everyone on her own? her dr. is being kind of stupid about it. I only had the 'labour' pains one time and that's when I started bleeding heavily and passed everything, so I don't know what to tell her.
thanks ladies for your input!

This past time I m/c naturally and I had labor pains and passed everything within 8 hours. My doctor said they wanted to check me 2 days later to make sure I passed everything and if didn't I would need a D&C because not everyone passes it and she could get an infection.

Trish,
With my miscarriage it started about a week before I actually passed anything. I had 2 days of reasonable bleeding (seemed like a lot at the time) and it went away. I thought I was done but BOY was I wrong. when it started again about a week later it started as cramping and spotting but very light flow. Then the next night (so almost 48 hours of the cramping and bleeding off and on) it started again and continued through the night until I had passed everything. I would say to give it a few more days and see what happens but if nothing else happens I would see the Dr. again.

I went through something very similar....my bleeding did not increase. I spiked a fever, had horrible pains and was just miserable. 2 weeks later I was still lightly bleeding, getting a positive pregnancy test and figured I had tissue left.
I ended up using Misopropal to get some more contractions. My bleeding picked up, I passed some tissue and then I was good to go!

Not sure...my natural m/c lasted about 9 days, pretty heavy bleeding throughout. I would say if the bleeding doesn't pick back up soon and she's in alot of pain, to call the OB. If he can't give her any answers, she might want to try another doctor. Good luck!

With my m/c, I had severe cramping for a good 8-10 hours, like Shortcake. The bleeding slowly decreased as the days past and the doctor never did any follow-ups to see if everything had passed.

With my loss I started spotting on Sunday. By Wed I was having back labour. Thursday I had bright red bleeding and no cramping. Friday full labour and everything passed in a few hours. I bled for another 5 days after that. My doctor also did an u/s after to make sure everything passed.
I am so sorry for what your sister is going through. Our thoughts are with her.

I has a natural miscarriage back in Feb. I really had no pain with it ...I had light bleeding the day before and then bled VERY HEAVY and passed tissue for about 3 hours the following morning and then the flow slowed down (to regular menstral like amounts) and lasted another 9 days or so......

My m/c started with spotting on a thursday. By Saturday the bleeding got heavier, by Saturday evening it got heavy and I started passing clots and having some pain (bearable pain, but i took tylenol). The bleeding lasted about 4-5 more days.
