The best way I have found to do this is sitting on the toilet, legs open. Relax, take a few deep breaths. Take one finger (middle finger works best) and stick it inside your vagina. What you want to feel for is a little nub. When you are most fertile, your cervix will be located wayyyy far away, probably very hard to reach. When you feel it, it will feel different depending on where you are in your cycle.
What you want is what is known as SHOW.
S - Soft Your cervix will be soft and feel a lot like your bottom lip.
H - High It will be almost out of the reach of your fingertip. Different times of the month it will be located different places. Sometimes you will feel it immediately when you stick your finger in, (meaning low).
O - Open - your cervix will be about a fingertip open, meaning you can literally feel it open.
W - It will feel nice and moist inside the vagina and up and around your cervix. When you pull your finger out, you will be able to check your CM. I give my cervix a little nudge or squeeze with my finger and check my CM when I am all done.
Just check it at different points in the month. It basically goes from hard and closed to soft and open to hard and closed. When it feels "hard" it basically feels like the tip of your nose. It may feel a little open...but nothing compared to when its REALLY open!
I hope I helped!

thanks Heather.. it sounds like it will help.. but im at work so can't check LMAO.
another question though.. so the nub you mention... is that the thing that will feel soft and hard at different times and is that what will feel more open?
sorry, can't believe i don't know this about my own body..

Yep, the nub is what you are feeling for. Its very flexible down there so don't worry about poking too hard! Just be sure your hand is clean, hehe.
The nub will literally feel like a pair of lips or the tip of your nose, depending on where you are in your cycle. Maybe about the size of a quarter? Just be sure to relax your muscles before you check it out, it'll make finding things a lot easier.
Once you find it, you will go "OHHHHHHHHH!".

That's great help Heather!
Bel - you'll figure it out after a few days.

Bel - Don't feel bad! A little while ago, I posted a similar thread in the private forum. It's all just part of getting to know our bodies better

Great advice Heather! I wanted to say too Boble that if you check it regularly (ie not only around the time you think you might ovulate), it might get easier to start to notice the differences between what is fertile and what isn't. Good luck!

OK, I hope this doesn't offend anyone or break any posting rules, but a friend of mine sent me a link to this blog a few months ago Age 25 - Entire Cycle anyhow this woman took pics of her cervix every day of her cycle and put them all up on her site with explanations about fertility, changes, etc. I've never seen pictures of a cervix other than the standard medical book close up and I was really struck by a lot of things. I was surprised at how uncomfortable I felt, like I was viewing something too personal or pornographic, when it's just a cervix! The changes in fluids, appearance, etc. are very noticeable. Anyhow, I thought some of you might find it interesting in light of this topic!

thanks Lenore.. i was actually thinking the same thing last night while I was checking.. especially if its up higher when its around O time... maybe "getting to know it" ( ) when its easier to reach will make it easier...
I had a bit of a check and I think I might have found it?? maybe. Way up the back. I will keep checking every day to see how I go
good luck everyone else on your cervix hunt hahahahaha
Laura - I have seen that before.. very interesting... and how committed is her boyfriend for being the photographer hehe. Thanks for posting the link again though, im sure lots of ladies will find it interesting too (I showed DH too lol)
thanks again everyone!!!!!

Hi Bel. I just have one thing to add. It's best to check your cervix position at the same time of day, as it can change position during the day. I used to check mine after my morning shower.
Goodluck!
