Hi everyone. I'm Leah and I just found out last week that I'm pregnant. However, since then, I've been having stabbing pains on my right side. I called the dr today and I had to get bloodwork done to see if it's ectopic. I go for more bloodwork on Saturday and I won't find out results until Monday. The wait is going to kill me. Have any of you had ectopic pregnancy before? What were your symptoms and how was it treated? I'm stressing out and I've got a while to wait. Thanks so much for your help!
*************************************************
Update:
The nurse called today and said that my betas were rising nicely, but I had to get an ultrasound because I'm still having pain. It turns out that it is a cyst on my ovary. Thank you girls so much for all of your help and kind words ~ I really appreciate it!

Hi Leah. I have not had an ectopic, but with 3 of my pregnancies I also got this sharp stabbing pain near my ovary around 5 1/2 weeks. I had it checked each time and it ended up being a cyst that was botherin me. It usually only lasted a few das and then it was gone. I hope everything is okay and you have a H&H pregnancy!!!! Try not to get to worried!

Thanks girls. I am hoping that it's just a cyst or "growing pains". I'll let you know what I find out!

Hi. I have not had an ectopic but I do know one of the ladies who was in the Dec. 09 DDC did. She still updates her post with her experience (I can't seem to locate the link) but I remember she also got information from the pregnancy loss/ectopic pregnancy experiences section. You might want to take a look there for any information.
I hope all is good with you in your pregnancy and you have a H & H 9 months.

OMG Leah! I can't believe you asked this! I was about to type up a message with the same thing. I need help too. First of all, I don't even know if I'm pregnant. I'm still just a few days too early to test. That said, hopefully I am pregnant. BUT, as I sit in the 2WW, I am having stabbing pains on my left side, lower quadrant. They aren't excruciating but the area is sore to the touch. The area is pretty must sore all the time with occasional twinges that feel worse. I don't even know if I'm pregnant but I'm worried it's ectopic (I admit, I may be a slight hypochondriac)! I would love to hear from anyone on this board about ectopic pregnancy symptoms too.

It is most likely a corpus luteum cyst that is normal in pregnancy and makes progesterone.. if I remember correctly. Are they going to do an u/s?
I had cramps so bad I went to the ER (I was bleeding too) and the baby was fine with his heart beating away.
I will be thinking about you.. sticky to you.

I had the same thing when I was pg and my doctor also told me it was a cyst that produces hormones in very early pregnancy. Hopefully the doctor will give you some good news! KUP!

It sounds like it could be just a cyst...but i just wanted to share my story and warn you.
I had an ectopic in Dec of 2006. At around 5 weeks I started getting sharp pains on my left side which got progressively worse...followed by some spotting. My doc took me in immediately for a sono and the pregnancy was detected in my left tube...uterus was empty except for some fluid/blood. They treated me with methotrexate to try to dissolve the pregnancy, but pain still got worse. It would come and go and would seem to come on after sitting for a long time at work or moving around alot. A week later I went to the emergency room with excrutiating pain. I had my left tube removed that morning...my tube had ruptured and I was very lucky to catch it in time before any severe internal bleeding.
Ectopic can be VERY dangerous. If the pain gets worse DO NOT wait...call your doctor immediately.

Her name is lunarmagic and she posts on the stillbirth board with all of us other stillbirth mommies.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok.

Hiya, im just lurking, I havnt posted here in ages but I had an ovarian ectopic in March last year. It was discovered when I went to the ER with pains, and they checked my hcg and found it to be low for how far along I was. They repeated it again and again and it never doubled as it should have done, I had the methotrexate to treat it. I did post my story if you want to read it: http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f3...ng-myself.html (introdusing myself)
However, I thought history was repeating itself with this pregnancy and was seen in the ER at just over 4 weeks (I was 4w 3d I think) and they discovered the pain was being caused by a UTI. They told me the corpeus luteum (sp?) can cause pain too though, I will keep you in my thoughts. I hope it is not ectopic! x

i guess i got lucky with my ectopic-i had awful, generalized lower abdomen pain for about 3 days when i was very early pg. i couldn't eat without pain; thought it was something with my digestive tract iykwim. i finally went to the er and they told me it was the corpus luteum rupturing because my pg hormones weren't high enough to support a viable pg. so i went home and thought i had another miscarriage. a week later i went for follow up bloodwork (no more bleeding, no pain at all) only to find the levels went up and i had emergency surgery that night for the ectopic. turns out i had been bleeding internally for over a week and my whole belly was full of blood when they did the surgery.
you're right to not ignore any symptoms - good luck.
