A very informal survey.
Do you think there is a correlation as to how far along you were when you miscarried and when AF returns?
If you are comfortable sharing, how far along were you when you miscarried and how long until AF returned?
If you don't want to share, here is why I am asking, feel free to chime in with ideas. I want to start my cycle so we know what is going on and we can TTC as soon as we are emotionally ready. The reason I ask is because my first loss was at 7 weeks and I O'd 16 days later and got pregnant from that so never saw AF.
We lost that baby at 14 weeks (she was 13 weeks) and it's been 6+ weeks since the D&C and no AF in sight. I was at the OB on Monday and he suggested sending me for an HCG incase I was pregnant, I told him I seriously doubt I was PG and I went home and POAS, clearly BFN.
Maybe it's taking longer to get my cycle back because I was pregnant longer?
Oh and date of my last missed period, which they keep asking me, was like LAST YEAR! Ugh!

i believe the further along you were the longer it takes for the hcg to get out of your system.
I hope AF shows up for you soon so you can get back to ttc.

The first loss I carried for 12 weeks (developmentally 9 ) before my D&C. It took 7 weeks for AF to return. This one, I carried for 10 weeks (developmentally 6) and it took 6.5 weeks for AF to return... I don't know if that helps, but hopefully you get yours soon. I didn't have any cramps or indication for this one, but I had been charting... so I knew to expect her anyway. Good luck.

I had a D&C at 8 weeks, 4 days and it took AF app. 11 weeks to show up.....it was terrible waiting. Dr had an ultrasound scheduled for the week she showed up so I ended up not having to go in for it.

Hi Sara,
I had a natural m/c at 6 weeks and my cycles returned to normal staright away and I had a D&C on the 22/5 at 8w, 4d (but baby only grew to 6w, 3d and it has took 33 days for AF to return which is my average cycle length.
I hope it arrives for you soon so you can start to TTC. I have had the heaviest and most painful AF this month (similar to my natural m/c) so it was very upsetting to go through it all again but it is also some form of closure so we know we can start TTC again.
Best of luck

With my first m/c I was 13w3d and I had to go on medication to get AF 9 weeks later. I have not had AF since my last one so I'm not sure what is going to happen.

One, I think that the further you are, the longer it takes to get the hCG out of your system. And this is JMO, but it seems to be a difference between a natural and a D&C as well. Since your hCG starts falling by itself before a natural and your body seems to have time to "get used to it", it seems like your body adjusts more quickly than when you just suddenly tell your body it's not pg anymore and clean it out.
I m/c naturally at 10w 4d. I Oed 10 days after the bleeding stopped, and AF showed up 23 days after the bleeding stopped.

I think it just depends on how your body deals with it and how fast your hcg goes back to 0. I had a m/c at 12 weeks (baby was only 8 weeks 4 days) and my AF came exactly 28 days later. I haven't been that regular in years. I did not have a d&c.

I was 20 weeks when I lost Clark. My first PP AF was around 5 1/2 weeks later.
With my chemical pregnancies, my AF's were right on schedule.

After I had my son I didnt have a period for about a year. I was nursing but even after I stopped it still took about 9 weeks after that for AF to come. My cycle was pretty out of whack for a long time after I had him. After my first mc/d&c it took 35 days and after my second mc/d&c it took 31 days. It seemed that I became very regular after the miscarriages even more than I was before I had ever gotten pregnant. Sorta strange but the body can do weird things!

You could try controlling your cycle artificially. I went on birth control after my loss to force my cycle to behave, and it worked. I used it for the few months before we TTC.

Thanks for the idea. I have a feeling I am ovulating now, so hopefully I'll see something in 2 weeks, if not I am going back to the OB to figure it out.

I was 12 weeks when I began miscarrying, but my baby died at 9 weeks. AF came 43 days after the D&C.
I hope AF shows up soon so that you can get back to TTC!
