I have been on unemployment Medicaid since DH stopped working in November. While I'm not quite ready (or medically "eligible") to look into medical options, does anyone know what is/isn't covered? I'm assuming few to none of the options are available. TIA!

Not sure what type of coverage you were hoping to get, but our insurance is a PPO plan, costs about as much as a mortgage each month and next to nothing for TTC is covered.

That's what I figured. I was sure that nothing was covered, considering birth control is free (hint taken, thank you socialism). I guess I was hoping for one of those "stranger things have happened" situations but oh well.

I googled it for you. In NC they cover:
Covered Services
Inpatient hospital services, outpatient hospital services, prenatal care, vaccines for children, physician services, nursing facility services for persons aged 21 or older, family planning services and supplies, rural health clinic services, home health care, laboratory and x-ray services, pediatric and family nurse practitioner services, nurse-midwife services, federally qualified health-center, early and periodic screening, diagnostic, and treatment services for children under age 21.

NC Division of Medical Assistance

What is not covered?
Dental
Fertility testing and treatment
Hysterectomies
Abortions
Pregnancy health care
Ambulance
Condoms
Contraceptive Foam, Jellies, or Suppositories
Durable Medical Equipment
Home Health
Inpatient Hospital
Mental Health
Optical
Treatment for AIDS
Treatment for Cancer
Sick Visits
Any service not related to Family Planning

I hope this helps.

Well arn't they a little confusing.... they pay for nurse-midwife services, and prenantal... than go to say they don't Pregnancy health care.... WTH?? I now when I was doing medical billing.. for ambulance.. Pa, NJ, Del and NY I never had a medicaid claim denied for transport if medically nessary.. and I know people who have medicaid I know it is here in PA... but if thier doctor accepted the medical card they were covered for services.. you might want to call the provider.. I know here in PA.. a few providers (kerystone mercy, pa medicaid, and other providers) And they also have thier own drs that "participate" I world look up your individual card and call to se what they cover.. If a doctor (like mine, who is a ob/gyn and FS) Accepts your card.. he might be able to "help" you with out if your not covered for those services.... I know a lot of doctors that would do that for thier patients. GOOD LUCK!

Since you live in NC you can call the Careline (which is basically the billing number for Medicaid) and they can talk to you about what's covered and what's not. 1-800-662-7030

Thank you so much, Jenn.

Kary, for pregnancy health you have to sign up/get enrolled in a specialized pregnancy Medicaid program, which I had for the last month of my pregnancy with DS. I was also thinking the same thing as you - my primary care doc is super nice and I was thinking maybe there are some loopholes he could figure out if/when the time comes.
