Hi everyone,

I am still bleeding 40 days after my mc. It has ranged from heavy to spotting... The days on my chart that are not marked as spotting still had pink on toilet tissue but it was so minor compared to the other days that I didn't bother charting it.

I thought that I was having AF now but it looks like it is stopping and than starts bright red again Has anyone else has a similar experience and when did their bleeding stop and when did you ovulate? I've thought about getting another scan done if I am still bleeding next Monday?

Hi Karyn I had a scan on day 4 of bleeding (whilst miscarrying) and after 20 days of bleeding. The gyno didn't do an internal scan but I think she should have... I called the OB today and the receptionist is getting him to call back as soon as he can...

Cherished,

You need to go back & get another scan & bloods done. I had to do it after my last m/c as I was spotting on & off. Bloods showed I still had HCG in my system, thus I didn't fully naturally m/c properly. This can interfere with ttc. If there is any 'product' (sorry for that word) left, you will not be able to conceive. My u/s showed all was clear, however sonographer & GP said it might have been an ectopic.

I hope you get things sorted.

I would be calling the doctor. My sister did a natural m/c and bleed heavily and towards the end her body just starting having so much trouble. For some reason it couldn't finish the m/c. The doctor said she should have gone to the ER. It has been a couple years so I don't remember exactly all that happened but I know that she ended up having a D & C because she couldn't do it alone. I hope you get some answers soon and that you stop bleeding.

thanks girls I have just had a scan (quick I know!) I already had the referal so I just walked straight in and go the scan done pretty much after posting... It was all clear but from reading your replies it sounds like I should also get my HCG tested? Is it a hormone that is in you body all the time? Like could I do a HPT and if it was negative would that be enough evidence that my body has finished with the whole mc or do I really need to get a blood test done to see what the exact levels are?

Cherished! Yay I have missed you dear. Hugs! I wanted to tell you that your HCG is usually only in your system when your pregnant. When it reaches 0 is when you will start to ovulate again and be able to TTC. You could take a HPT but that usually only shows you if the HCG is 20ml or above I believe so your safest bet is to get BT done. Hope things turn out well.

Cherished - I sent you a PM as well but I agree with all the other girls, I would get a BT to be sure. Hope the bleeding stops soon.

Thanks girls,

I was just telling Mel in a pm that the OB told me the only reason I would be bleeding for this long is if there is still some sort of tissue in there which cant' always be seen on an ultrasound, I asked him about a HCG test and he said that can still come back negative and there can still be some sort of tissue inside causing the bleeding. I am seeing him Next Wed and will probably have a D&C on the Friday. I tell you what the OB is so lovely! he called me at 6:30 tonight and he was sick (with a bad cold/flu) and he is still fitting me into his booked schedule, I am feeling really looked after! Will keep you all posted and thanks a million for your replies!

Thats what I went through with mine....I bled for almost 30 days. I had retained tissue and took one dose of Misopropal to get things moving again. I bled heavier for a few days and then BAM everything was fine. That was so miserable, you keep thinking "Oh its almost over" because its such light bleeding but of course it just keeps going and going. If they tell you that you have retained tissue and want to do a D&C...try the Misopropal first. That with Tylenol 3, it worked perfectly to get what was left out. So sorry you have to go through this - its bad enough when it lasts forever.
