Hey ladies

The miscarriage started on July 23rd, became like a heavy Af with lots of clotting on the 24th then spotting for two days after. I never needed a D&C thank goodness. I have stopped bleeding 3 or 4 days ago. I'm doing quite a lot better. I got myself another pet fish to help keep me busy. He's a cute little betta fish. I have 2 betta fish and 2 parrots. Between water changes, cage cleaning, and play time for the birdies, I succeeded in distracting myself the past few days. Had a good cry last night, but I'm ok now.

1. How long did it take you to get pregnant?
2. Is it possible for me to O between now and my first AF since the MC? DH and I are emotionally ready to try again. Should we use protection around possible O day? What you ladies do?
3. Question for ladies with thyroid issues.. my grandma, mom, and aunt have always had low thyroid levels. My mom got me thinking.. Would thyroid issues have an impact on whether or not I could have a healthy normal pregnancy?

I guess that's it for now.. I hope our next baby is healthy. Sorry for the rambling.

1. Not pg yet, 4 cycles
2. Yes, you can "O" before your firs af. I did protect that month, but only because I did not want to have early u/s's and blood tests to date the pregnancy. If you are prepared for that, than I dont think physically there is anything wrong with that.
3. I was wondering about the thyroid thing as well. Mom and sister have underactive thyroid disease and take medication for it daily. I have been tested before, like 2yrs ago, but not since. I was told by InHisHands, that this does have a huge impact on sucessfull pregnancy.

Maybe this will be our month. I think I'd like to wait until I know if I have thyroid issues though.

thanks so much!

Hi there!

1) I mc'd before getting pg with my DD 9 years ago I think it was 3-4 cycles. Trying to calculate according to my oldest age. Right now I've just suffered a loss and have not yet had a period altho I'm O'ing right now.

2) I think I sort of answered part of your question... I'm O'ing right now which is right on target with my cycle before this happend. TOTALLY WEIRD to me, but not impossible. DH made comments a few nights ago about starting to TTC THAT night! I told him to give me a few days figuratively, but here we are a few days later and gave it a go BD'ing.

3) I have a close friend who has only a *speck* of her thyroid left and has had 5 kids. It can impact your pg'y, but to what degree is depending I do not know. However, just because it runs in your family doesn't mean you will have it too... the women in your family did have babies tho SO STOP yourself from analyzing it honey, you're going to stress yourself out needlessly. Just remember, if it's a big concern mention it to your PCP or OB and they can run a simple bloodtest to check it

I hope this is helpful and not hurtful, we were rather close in our dates of loss. I'm so very sorry too btw. Hope that we can all lessen each others axieties and boost morale!

I am just finishing up with my MC...I am going to be waiting a cycle, but that is because I was 11 wks, so a little further along that most. I will be TTC as soon as I get AF however. I know you can O between MC and AF, but as I said, i will be protecting. (well not litterally protecting, just being careful KWIM?)

I have heard from the lovely girls here that it is personal choice as to when you want to TTC again. If you are emotionally ready, then go for it. I pray you get a super sticky bean!!

Hey, hon. I was thinking of you. I'm glad that you didn't need a D&C, and that you're doing better.

1. We weren't really TTC or NTNP until the cycle that I got my bfp, but we weren't exactly being careful. It's been 4 months since we lost Autumn.
2. It is possible to O before your first AF. I've read that you're very fertile right after a m/c. It's a very personal decision on whether or not to start trying right away. Doctors will tell you that the lining needs to build up for one cycle, but there are ladies who have gotten pregnant right away and their pregnancies have been healthy.
3. I'm not sure about the thyroid question, because I don't have any issues. You can get a blood test to check your levels and ease your mind.

I hope and pray that you get your bfp soon, and that your bean is super sticky.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm leaning towards waiting till after my next period, just so I know my body is back to normal.

i was diagnosed w/ hypothyroidism in late 2006. if your levels are way out of range, it definitely can (and most likely will) impact your ability to have a healthy pregnancy! it's definitely worth the blood work just to be on the safe side. i take syntrhoid daily, and have been successful keeping my levels in the normal range. i was also checked all throughout my pg, as hormone levels can fluctuate while pregnant.

good luck!

HUGS... I am so sorry for your loss.... All the ladies above have seemed to answer your questions..

I just wanted to put in.. I think you should talk to your dr. about having blood tests done to check your thyroid. GOOD LUCK!

I am so sorry for your loss

1. Unfortunately not pregnant yet, it is my fifth cycle since the m/c.

2. From what I have heard it is totally possibly to ovulate before AF. If you want to get pregnant right away, I would bd every other day to keep your bases covered. My doctor said I should wait two cycles before TTC, I waited one and started trying but no luck yet

3. No info on thyroid issues, but this might be a good thing to discuss with your doc and maybe you can get tests done. I had a history of blood clots in my family and my doc did testing for all the clotting disorders, luckily everything turned up normal. Doctors usually don't do testing until you've had several miscarriages, so if there is any info about family history that you think could have caused you to m/c, it's always a good idea to share with your doc.

1. It took one cycle of trying to get PG. Apparently I am a fertile myrtle and staying pregnant was more difficult than getting PG.

2. I did O right after I finished bleeding - I had an ultrasound about 3 days afterwards to make sure I had all the tissue cleared and the tech showed me that I had a cyst, which meant I was going to O soon. I'm pretty sure I O'd right around cycle day 14 as well. We decided to skip that cycle and wait for AF to try again - I'm glad I did because I knew that my body was "okay" by having the normal AF.

3. I know they can run simple blood tests to check your thyroid - maybe you should have that done so you know what is going on and its one worry you can cross off the list.

So sorry for your loss!! My sister has been ttc for a while now and also had a m/c recently. She had some testing done and was told by the fertility specialist that the only reason why she can't get pregnant is becasue of her thyroid and until she needs to get that under control. Her thyroid is underactive. It can't hurt to get a blood test to check your thyroid.

I'm with Kary, ask for the thyroid test, it can't hurt right? I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling so strong.
