There's a big country concert that happens in a neighboring town every year. My two youngest sisters and their foster family are there right now.
I'm at work, at the hospital, and we just got a call from one of our surgeons telling us that there was a mass casualty at the event. A stage collapsed because of a tornado.
I've tried calling my sisters' foster mom's cell, and she's not picking up. I'm so scared!

So apparently it wasn't a tornado, just a nasty storm that is currently headed our way.
However, no one knows the extent of the injuries yet, and we still haven't been able to reach them

The news just reported that there is 1 dead and 60 injured, and another report stated that 120 were trapped by the weather. STARS can't land because of the storm.
I'm trying really hard to stay calm for Peanut's sake, but it is SO hard 
Michelle, we must have posted at the same time. Jeff tried to call his friend who lives there, but his cell is turned off.

P... didn't want to scare you but i heard 2 dead and counting. Try and stay calm. Here is something to think about - hundreds of thousands of people go to the BVJ every year and 120 of them are caught in this mess... there is a low percentage chance that it is your family (or mine). Another thing I was thinking is that all the front rows of the place are the reserved seating and I would think that is where the worst of it is (including the band that was on stage). If they were in general seating they would have been in the first group of people out the door and to safety. I'll keep you posted. Breath!
Just read that local cell service is out - not sure how reliable of a source but it would explain why you can't get a hold of your sisters.

news...1 dead, 4 critical, 4 serious, 7 undetermined, so far... specultion is that they are all from the stage area, sounds like they have "found" all people who were trapped in the rubble.

They are in general seating (as far as I know).
I can't keep up with news very well at my desk, I can only look for updates online and they don't seem to be as up to date as on TV. Thank you!

P - I have been listening to the radio. Sounds like all injuries were people who were ON STAGE and not from the general seating. I have heard fantastic things about all the triage and all the people who were helping the injured. From what I have heard that is why there is not more injuries.
