I just met my 5 day old niece for the first time!

I was so shakey with excitement and 'bout to tears, she's the only baby I could look at and not get choked up over my loss. I cannot look at pg women or newborns, it's just been too hard... EXCEPT for my widdle niece today!

I'm so happy she is here, it really brightened my day and I hope it stays that way

I am excited to hear that you had a positive experience with your neice. I will be meeting mine in about 12 days, who was born the day after I found out I was MCing...in fact...I was in the ER getting checked out when my SIL's water broke. I went to see a friend of my's baby on Sunday (just born) and I had a very hard time with it...in fact...was in tears after I left, so was very worried I would have the same reaction with my neice... I hope that I have the same sort of experience as you did!!!

I hope you have a positive expierence too! You just might surprise yourself

I mc'd the day my lil niece was born; I too was devastated and had a horrible time trying to be happy she arrived last thursday... to be honest I thought to myself that maybe now my lil sissy (actually SIL, but we're like sis's) would *know* how it could be hard to have a loss seeing her widdle babe for the first time (does that make sense?) Her condolences weren't real understanding (altho' she meant NO malice, it was just the wrong thing to say) and I don't blame her for not understanding (MOST people never will)

I had to sit down and hold her because I was so SHAKEY, I think now some of that was from having mixed emotions... overall it was an AWESOME expierence and glad she came over.

I think both of you have extreme situations - to have siblings babies born on the day or right after you miscarried.

My niece was born 3 months after my m/c but for me, she was always going to have her baby before me so I coped with that and was happy for for my brother and his partner - and was happy to cuddle my beautiful niece. I'm not sure I could have coped the same way if my m/c had been right at the time of her birth though.

oreobaby and I hope you are okay with meeting your niece, and celena - while i'm sorry your SIL wasn't more sensitive, I'm glad that you were able to feel joy in holding your niece.
