I don't temp - so I'm sure someone else will be able to help you out more! Are you fairly certain you O'ed 6 days ago? It does sound confusing because I always thought the temp spike happened the day after ovulation.. but as I said I don't temp so I could be way off base.

I am no expert (best ask the chart whisperer ) but this is part of the reason I stopped charting as it was way too confusing and the slightest thing can affect your temp which can put your whole chart off. From what I remember FF needs to have 3 elevated temps after your temp spike to give you a coverline and say when you definitely o. Because you had a temp spike when you got a positive opk and then your temp went down again it hasn't recognised it as o.

Personally, if it were me I would be trusting the opk rather the FF. Especially since you had 3 + in a row. Simple things can affect your temp (to the point of having to take your temp at the same time everyday) so try not to worry too much about it. There is still a chance you caught that egg - I hope so!

Hope we can be belly buddies this month, I'm only 3 days behind you on CD19

If I went on your temps alone (and not opks) then, it would seem that you actually didn't ovulate until yesterday or so (the day before the temp spike). Sometimes our bodies gear up to ovulate, but get delayed. Only an increase in BBT can confirm ovulation, not opks. Opks and EWCM and all that stuff are only predictions. You need three high temperatures for FF to mark ovulation. That said, it's true BBT can be affected by a whole range of things, especially if it's your first time charting...

Good luck!

Hmmm, this is what I see...(sorry for the long post)

According to your temps, you would have ovulated maybe the cd20 (Sat)? Based on the temp spike. BUT....depending on what's going on with you, lack of sleep, interrupted sleep, alcohol consumption, testing at a different time, stress, all of these things can affect your BBT. So, one of those temps could just be wacky and misleading.

Most women ovulate 12-48 hours after their + OPK, and some reportedly even longer than that. Everyone is different. So, based on your OPK, you could have ovulated up through the cd18 (Thu), but probably cd17 (Wed).

Was there a reason that your temp could have been off on the 20th? If so, that low temp would be what's causing FF to not detect ovulation - it requires 3 elevated temps in a row. I've learned that if I know there is a valid reason why my temp may not be accurate on one day (I didn't get enough sleep, I was up and down all night, I was drinking a lot the night before) I just don't chart it. Not that I am encouraging you to delete a temp if it was accurate, just make sure it was accurate.

To my knowledge, BBT is the only definitive way to detect ovulation. OPKs tell you when your body is getting ready to ovulate. And unfortunately something could have happened and you didn't actually release that egg. Hopefully that's not the case...that's when the temps come into play and confirm all of your pre-ovulation signs.

Hope this was helpful.

I'm curious... Did you get up out of bed within 2-3 hourse before you took your temp? You will not get an accurate temp if you've been up out of bed even for just to go pee and then back to bed.

There are ALLOT of contributing factors as to why it spiked, you have to chart for a couple cycles to learn your median temp to even know if you've really spiked or dipped... Does that make any sense?

I temped allot with my other kids and I'm back to it again. I'm going to have to throw out this and last month

I would guess that you will get CH's tomorrow if your temp stays up. An OPK will only detect a surge in your LH it will not confirm that O happened. The only way to confirm O is to look for a clear thermal shift in your chart.

Wait and see what tomorrow's temp is.

i would also say wait and see what happens with tomorrows temp. if it is also high then you will likely get your crosshairs and be 3dpo tomorrow.

good luck

Charm,

I hope you find the answers. I think FF can be confusing sometimes & the OPK's plus the charting should give you the best indication together. I hope the temp spike was an anomaly and you caught that egg. All the best hun
