I am new to the whole OPK thing. I accidently bought the ones with the two lines and now am a little confused. I meant to buy the ones with the smiley face to make things easier for me but I didn't. Anyways...I started on cycle day 11 because my cycles are usually 28 days or more. On Friday (day 11) I had a very light line. Took it as a negative because it was not as dark as the control. Yesterday I had some fertile looking CM and when I took the test I saw a control line and really nothing else. I haven't tested yet today but is it possible I missed it? Why would I have a slight line and then nothing. Is a positive OPK really obvious? I am so confused. Do you have to be a rocket scientist to figure these things out. I am going to get the ones with the darn face next time. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I am fairly new to the OPK thing myself...this is only my second time in a year to use them. But here's what happened to me. I had several light second lines so negatives obviously. Then i tested after seeing a tiny bit of EWCM and i got NO second line at all. That was Friday morning. Yesterday I had some more EWCM and so i peed, and what do you know it was positive immediately. Then it was neg last night (the second line was lighter but not a lot) but after several girls told me they only get +s at one time of the day I tested again this AM and it was positive again...

I'm not sure what to think about them, except to say I'm having a similar experience. As long as your second line is as dark or darker then you should probably BD just in case!

I am only 2weeks post m/c so its not even one cycle after. I know my body is being weird but i'm gonna give it a shot! Good Luck!!!

Oh here's a pic of my positive if you want to see it:

Hello ladies... The whole OPK thing can be quite confusing and get a whole bunch of answers.. I have been using then for the last 6 cycles. I have always ben able to catch the "almost" + until yesterday.. that was the first one that was a + with out a doubt... With that being said.. I could have an "almost"+ for two days.. How? Well you catch the surge going up and than coming down.. with out getting the deffiantly +. Ok and it has not been unheard of women Oing twice in one month... so that means you "could" have + twice in one month... rare.. but it does happen. They say your "surge" can last an hour.. to a few hours.. and than it depends.. how much you drinking.. how much you peeing.. To when you catch that surge... they say around the time you should test 3-4 times a day... I tested 3 times... yesterday and I get the surge this time... GOOD LUCK!

Thank you ladies. I tested again and negative. I am only on day 13 so it may be early. From what I understand is that you can have some LH in your system to begin with so the line basically must be the same color or darker for a true positive. I am hoping that the line was just from that. Who knows, I'll keep on trying and we'll see. I am testing twice a day with a sample that was held for atleast 4 hours. Which is a task in itself. Why is it that you have to go to the bathroom all the time only when you have to hold it?

That is so true! I used opks for about 3cycles - I often got faint 2nd lines and sometimes I'd get a faint line which would disappear completely on the next test, and then suddenly I'd get my positive (yes, the test line needs to be as dark as or darker than the control line to be considered positive). So while I expected once I'd seen a faint test line, that it would continue to get darker until I got my positive, that wasn't really the case. So I can understand it's confusing but just keep holding and poas (I bought internet cheapies and when I thought I was close, I tested 3 times a day so as not to miss it!!).

Good Luck!
