So, I had the bloodwork done yesterday and I should get my FSH test results back today. I am so nervous.... Part of me is like ok, I want to know so I can move on with TTC or come to the reality that another baby is not possible. Part of me doesn't want to know as if it comes up over 9.9 or so I have to give up my dream.

My dr. told me they like to see them under 12. I guess it varies from lab to lab and it can also vary from month to month. I dont know what is good or not but mine was 9.9 and my RE said it was good so I believe him.

Missy, I just called my RE office and the dr. just called back and he told me again that he doesnt worry unless levels are over 12. Even if your levels are at 12 you can still conceive on your own. Perfect example, my co-worker who is sitting next to me right now and is 6 mo. preggo had hers tested and they were 12.7 and she conceived on her own 2 months after the test was done. Even if yours are over 10 you still have a good chance so dont get bummed.

Thanks for the encouragement and it is cool that your co-worker had hers tested and is pregnant! With my age (I am 40) - Darn that is a big number to type out because I honestly feel like I am 25! Anyway, at age 40 the Dr. is concerned not for me to get pregnant (that hasnt been too much of an issue) but the quality of the eggs I have left.
My family has a huge history of very early menapause. My grandma age 37, mom age 34, sister age 29, aunt L age 32, aunt T age 35 cousin T age 32. Myself and one of my cousins are the only women to reach past age 35 that have not gone through complete menapause in 4 generations.
I found this chart online but again, can't rely on it as I guess different labs test differently.
Day 3 FSH level Interpretation for DPC Immulite assay
Less than 9 Normal FSH level. Expect a good response to ovarian stimulation.
9 - 11 Fair. Response is between normal and somewhat reduced (response varies widely). Overall, a slightly reduced live birth rate.
11- 15 Reduced ovarian reserve. Expect a reduced response to stimulation and some reduction in embryo quality with IVF. Reduced live birth rates on the average.
15 - 20 Expect a more marked reduction in response to stimulation and usually a further reduction in embryo quality. Low live birth rates. Antral follicle count is an important variable.
Over 20 This is pretty much a "no go" level in our center. Very poor (or no) response to stimulation. "No go" levels should be individualized for the particular lab assay and IVF center.
We shall find out Monday! Either way I think I am going to be relieved to finally be able to make a true plan of action.

Ladies, thank you so much for all of your support. I was so afraid that because of my age (as most of you know I am 40) that my baby making days were over. This test has given me new found hope! This morning I go to get my progestrone levels checked and an ultrasound in the afternoon to check out my insides. If all comes back ok, then the doctor wants to send me to a fertility doctor to try to get me pregnant asap.
I am in such better spirits knowing that there is still a good chance! I appreciate you all being here for me through all of this. I lean on all of you so much and just want to say Thank you.
