Hi ladies, I'll be joining you here soon. I'm scheduled to have a d&c on monday due to a blighted ovum and falling hcg levels. I haven't spoken to my dr about it yet, but I was researching it online and I've read that there are many different reccommendations as to when you're allowed to TTC again. Does anyone know if there is a medical reason to wait before TTC again? I know most drs say to wait for dating purposes or to wait at least a week or two before TTC because of infection, but what have you experienced with this?

I am so sorry for your loss... HUGS! I am glad you will be joining us Welcome! I have yet to have heard a reason why, medically you have to wait. We were told on our 2 wk checkup we could start right away. We didn't have to wait for AF. Good Luck! And when you decide to start ttc.. I hope your BFP comes quickly!

I don't think there is a medical reason beyond the 1-2 weeks for infection purposes. Many drs will say longer for dating or to ensure your hormones are back to normal that sort of thing. I think how YOU feel about it is the most important part.

*HUGS* I'm obviously not happy to see you here, but welcome

I didn't have any experience with a D&C, as my M/C was early and natural. But we didn't wait or take any precautions after the loss. I would think as long as you wait the suggested amount of time just due to the risk of infection etc that it would be fine to start TTC as soon as you feel ready.

I hope you get your BFP again soon, it's a really hard thing to go through, especially after getting pregnant with our firsts so easily

I was told that I can start straight away, but you want to make sure that everything is all good first though, things like tissue being left behind can cause infection. I personally chose to wait until I had 1 period, just to satisfy in my own mind that everything was alright, and fortunately for me af showed up right when I expected not any later, which confirmed for me that everything had been cleaned out properly and had gone back to normal.

Good luck with everything

Mr Dr said we could ttc straight away as my body woudn't fall pg unless it was ready. I have had a natural m/c and a D&C and we started ttc straight away after both losses. Unless you have a medical condition and your Dr advises you not to then I don't think there is any medical reason to wait.

I am sorry for your loss and good luck with the rest of your ttc journey
