So, I broke my foot last night. I was on a walking historical/ghost tour when I took a really graceful fall right there on the sidewalk. In the middle of a group of 20some people while the leader was giving an account of a local haunting. A small, 2 inch stick just jumped right under my foot, I slipped on it and my foot rolled and snap, crackle, POP! Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure a ghost must have pushed me.

But anyway, I went to urgicare today to get an xray and had the most infuriating nurse/Dr. team ever! Here's the deal: Even before my x-ray, I'm pretty certain my foot is broken; it's swollen and purple and I can't put any (not any) pressure on it. The nurse asks me where it hurts (um, that would be the swollen purple lump area) then squeezes it.....and then smiles and says sorry, did that hurt? But here's the good part: she asks me if I'm pregnant before the x-ray. I say that I don't know, I'm 6dpo so it's too early to tell, but I could be. She then chuckles and tells me that it's only been 3 weeks since my period so no, I'm not pregnant (apparently they didn't cover human reproduction in nursing school). So I go to pee in a cup for her - she tells me to walk down the hall, like she didn't want me to use the wheelchair - so I remind her that I CAN'T WALK!!! She then informs me that I got a BFN and I tell her it's too early to tell and she ignores me. So I get an x-ray because I need one and then the Dr. comes in to tell me it's broken (after he just got done telling my DH that I wasn't really hurt, just a sprain) and asks me what pain meds I want. I say I don't know, I don't ever take anything for pain but tylenol and he says he'll give me tylenol 3 codeine. I remind him that I may be pregnant and I don't want to take anything potentially harmful. He then tells me that I had a neg pg test, so I'm not pg. Um, excuse me Dr., let me go over how the 2ww works.....anyway, I ask him what would be the best thing to take IF I'm pregnant and tells me "whatever you want". He then says he writing a prescription for codeine and I can take it if I want and if I'm concerned about being pregnant then he suggests that I don't have sex for a while so I don't get pregnant. Wait....what? WTH??? So then the nurse comes in with a cane (nope, no crutches for me....she tells me I am just going to have to walk and deal with it!) and slaps on a bootie and tightens up the velcro super tight (gosh, I really love her!). And then questions why DH is wheeling me out to the car....really, she doesn't understand why I can't walk. Truly.

So after this ridiculous day, I'm still hopping around my house on one foot, eating pizza (cause DH had to cook ) and counting down the minutes till I can see the ortho doc and maybe get some freakin' crutches or something!!! Now if only I can talk DH into getting me some ice cream

I'm sorry but I am having a real giggle at your post...... but I am sorry to hear that your foot is broken.

Good thing the Dr & the nurse aren't a GYNO/OBS/Midwife hey?!

Krystal first off that sounds like a FREAKING NIGHTMARE!!!!! that's traumatizing enough I would NEVER go back to that place, sheesh, REPORT it to the head person managing that place filing a formal complaint of the AWEFUL care!!! (if you can call it care, it was more like abuse) ash-holes!

Krystal about the meds...... I have to take allot of pain meds for my fibromyalgia and tylenol 3 is ok, so please don't hesitate to take one if you're in excruciating pain.

I take darvocet 1-2 every 6-8 hours (I usually only take 1 during the day and 1-2 at night before bed so I can sleep since I quit taking my sleepy meds in july)

they're all pretty much safe as the NSAID that is in it besides the low dose opiate is tylenol...

OMG tho, I'm so sorry to hear about your broken foot and that freaking NIGHTMARE!!!

What drugs were they on???? I can't believe how you were treated. I just want to slap them both silly! Hope you can get some crutches soon and make sure DH treats you extra nice. Don't they do casts anymore for broken bones??? My DH had a ripped tendon and wore the boot (with crutches ) but with a broken foot, I would think you would need a cast...no?? Feel better soon!!! You did give me a giggle though. LOL

I don't understand why people are in their line of work if they seem to hate it and take it out on innocent people.I'd call and report the care you received.Your foot is not in a cast? That's doesn't seem right unless it a minor crack?I'd get a second opinion,I know medical care is so expensive even with insurance.(((hugs)))

Almost every time I hear about someone going to urgent care, it's a horror story. I'd go to the ER next time - can't possibly be worse.

I'm so sorry you had such a horrible time with that nurse/doctor. I hate stupid people. I probably would have walked out. I can't stand when people act that way. Hope you can get some crutches here ASAP and that your foot heals really fast.

WOW. What incredibly ignorant, rude, horrible people! I'm so sorry that you went through that. I hope that your foot heals quickly!

P.S. Did you get your icecream?

Krystal I'm sorry you broke your foot, but I'm smiling as I read this as I can picture you whipping out a flip chart to explain how TTC works to the Dr & Nurse! I hope that you were able to enlighten them.

I hope you heal quickly - If you get your BFP this cycle be sure to go back and tell them!
