My doctor is not sure if I am having a miscarriage or an ectopic. My hcg levels went from 380 to 369 from Tuesday at 3 pm to Thursday at 10 am. Anyone have any advice?

How far along are you?
Have you had a spotting, bleeding, clotting or cramps?
Have they done an u/s?
It could be a miscarriage, could be ectopic, could be a vanishing twin, could be a number of things... there's no telling unless they do a serial of beta's.
I'm really sorry you're going thru a confusing time right now, I hope there is some clairity brought to the situation

They weren't sure how far along I was because I had what I thought was a normal period on August 6. Before that my period was July 11. I have had brown spotting/bleeding this whole time.

Im so sorry your in such a perdicament. But, an etopic would go up, possibly even double for a little bit, then just go up little amounts...... They do go down slighty with an impending m/c but you would probably need one or two more tests done to cofirm that. Like Celena said, vanishing twin could be likely as your numbers are still in the 100's. When a persons levels gets into the 1,000's and goes down like this, it is most likely m/c. So your kinda in the middle. Dr. will need to do one more test at least.......

I hope everything turns out okay! Definately ask your doc for an u/s or more beta checks at least. I would tend to agree with Celena & Lori about the vanishing twin. Good luck!!

I don't have any new advice either except to agree with the ladies about requesting another blood test. Once those numbers are in you will have more information (ie if they go down again its most likely a m/c, if they go up drastically it was probably a vanishing twin, if they go up slightly you would probably want another blood test a few days later to see a trend). Also I have heard (never experienced) that with ectopic you would be feeling quite a bit of cramping on one side.
Good Luck! It sucks being in limbo but its best to get as much information as you can before making any decisions.

I'm sorry you are going through this right now. I would ask the doctor for an u/s. When I had my m/c in december, first I had an u/s that didn't show anything. With that, my betas were 274. When they were rechecked two days later, they were 255. My doctor told me to expect the m/c because of the u/s and betas; however, for you, if there was a vanishing twin, you would be able to see the remaining twin on the u/s.

Sorry I guess I didn't tell you guys in my original post that there was nothing showing in my uterus with the ultrasound, and they did think they saw some swelling on the right side, so they were thinking it might be an ectopic because I'm still testing positive.

The doctor probably, most likely not see anything on an u/s. I had a tubal preg. in June. My numbers were doubling ever 72 hrs and my tube ruptured when my HCG was 1,082. I went to the ER because I knew my tube was rupturing, they did an u/s and couldn't find anything in my tubes or my uterus and sent me home. I went to another ER within 4 to 5 hrs and they found my tube rupturing and full of blood along with my pelvic area. Worst night ever. I just recently found out I'm pregnant again. I had blood work on Thurs. and I'm going on Monday again. If my numbers haven't doubled ever 48 hrs I'm terminating it. I'm not taking the chance again, I only have one tube left. Good luck to you Hun and I hope everything turns out ok for you.

Miracle... ya if your doctor thinks it's tubal by seeing actual evidence and not just "guessing" then I would go with his/her treatment plan. It's not something to guess at that's for sure!
Have you had any follow-up appointments this week?
Did the doctor say how he/she was going to go about treating it?
Stay on them if they're not paying enough attention to you as you think they should... don't hesitate to call or go in, ectopic pregnancies are nothing to play around with.
Good luck Miracle, saying prayers for you and that everything is *ok* with you!!!
KUP, please...
