1) When are you allowed to have sex after a miscarriage?
2) How soon are you able to start trying to conceive again?

You want to wait atleast 2 weeks due to infection. Of when you have your follow up, and the Doctor gives you the ok for sex.
Every doctor has a different idea. My doctor gave us the OK at our 2 week follow up to go ahead and TTC. But every doctor is different. You will be told that their is no medical reason to wait. Your body won't get pregnant untill it is ready..
Good Luck!

I would wait until you are done bleeding to BD.
I was told by my doc that it was ok to start TTC immediately, so I did. Now that i've experienced it, if I could go back, I would skip that first cycle.
My opks were positive for forever, my post o temps were really abnormal and all over the place, when AF did come, she was around for more than 2 weeks. I really think the body needs at least one cycle to reset itself. I would take this cycle out, as it just results in frustration and despair. After that AF I seemed to be less depressed as well. I think the normalizing of hormones must help that somewhat.

1) When are you allowed to have sex after a miscarriage?
I was told 2 weeks but then I had a D&C
2) How soon are you able to start trying to conceive again?
Like Kary said, every dr is different. I was told 3 cycles.. I'm in my 2nd cycle now, still waiting on the 3rd & will hopefully be able to try again in Oct!

make sure you stop bleeding before you do anything. also the dr. says wait 2 weeks so that your uterus can heal and you don't get an infection. as far as ttc, that is up to you and it depends how far along you were. most doctors want you to wait at least until you get your AF, so that it's easier to date the pregnancy, but there really is no reason why you have to wait. It's totally up to you. good luck!

I was told as soon as the bleeding stopped we could start BDing again. It was due to the risk of infection like the other ladies have said.
As for TTC - there is a wide range of times... I was told we could immediately becuase there is no medical reason not to. However, for emotional reasons you may choose to wait. Some people need to try immediately to get through the grief and some need to wait. Do what's right for you.

I have had 2 natural m/c and was told to wait until after I stopped bleeding to BD. After my ectopic (which I had surgery for) was told to wait 6 weeks.
I have always been told to wait until after your 1st PP AF to start TTC again. This is allow the doc's to age the pregnancy better. But after my 3rd m/c I accident got pg with DS. While I am very grateful for him it was so crazy not knowing I was pg and just sitting around waiting to bleed when I should have been on progesterone.
All that being said...I would say wait until after your 1st AF post m/c.

Can't help you with the first one...my doctor never told me when we could start BDing again.
As for the second question, both my OBGYN and GP told me to wait two cycles before we started trying again (to recover and give them a date to measure the pregnancy with). In hindsight, however, I wonder if my GP was just agreeing with what my OBGYN said out of the interest of professionalism. I look back at those three months we waited as lost time now.

With the bleeding, I think it really depends on whether you had a D&C, or any complications... but after my m/c's, my m/w told me we could start having sex again when the bleeding stopped
As for TTC again... the recommendation is 1-2 cycles to let your body get back to normal

with everyone else... but every doc seems to say something different
My DH was very, um, impatient... he didn't understand nor was he being understanding so we bd'd soon. I wish he'd have to go thru it so perhaps he would *understand* LOL!
There's a study that was done saying there's no conclusive evidence that waiting 1,2,3 cycles to TTC is neccessary. However, I would give yourself time to bleed and stop... what did your doc say?

The nurse told me the doctor said that I couldn't DTD for now.. and they said they'll tell me if I can or not when I hear back from them after next week when I get my betas checked again... they didn't even ask if I'm still bleeding or not, which I'm not- I didn't have much at all today.

1) When are you allowed to have sex after a miscarriage?
I was told when I felt ready
2) How soon are you able to start trying to conceive again?
it varies from dr to dr. But basically unless there is a medical reason why you should you can start right away. Your body will not become pregnant if its not ready.
