I started to bleed today, Called the Dr to see if we could do the blood work starting on CD3. Well this is what he wants to do...

He said thier is no reason to do the blood work on CD3... since the biggest test for that day is the FSH.. to see if you are ovulating.. well obviuosly I am, since I just got pregnant. I think OK.. how about Thyroid TSH.. again.. you wouldn't of concieved. He than goes over my chart from the last 10 months... he starts by saying most early m/c's are from some kind of abnormality and it is mother natures way of stepping in. Since I have a living child.. it tells him my uterus can carry a child to term. And my last m/c was due to a chromosomal issue. So what he wants to do is bring me in for blood work and vaginal swab for mycoplasma and ureaplasma bacteria (which he dosen't think I have, but just to be sure) and the blood work will be, to check for clotting factors and hormones but believes everything will come back fine.. But even it is does, If I want he will start me on a baby asiprin, he just wants to document why, if the swab comes back + I get put on a antibotic. He said you are 34, after 32 your egg quality goes down, nothing you can do about. If he could come up with a way to change that he could retire (a little humor) So continue to TTC after you stop bleeding. And we will take the results and go from thier.

I feel a little better having some tests being done. But I don't like the idea of my eggs being old... since it is out of my hands and I can't do a damm thing about it!

Don't worry too much about old eggs. My mom had two back to back miscarriages in her late 30's, followed by fertility problems. She had a bad reaction to Pergonal her first IUI cycle and she just gave up. Turns out she was pregnant with twins at 39. She had them at 40. Now they have their drivers licenses and don't do their homework without a fight. Don't give up hope, you can have annoying teenagers a little later in life just like she did!

Oh, great.... that is not what I want to hear either!! I am 32 now... so if it it is downhill from here, that is not good. I keep wondering if there is something wrong with my eggies. I typically get pregnant pretty easily (only 1-4 months of TTC) but I have been pregnant 4 times and I only have 1 baby.

Here is hoping we both catch a good egg!!

If your eggs are old, mine are ancient! but I am not giving up. And even at 40 I would really like to have 2 more. Yup, I am crazy!

Kary, I have been thinking about you, just want you to know that.

That's great though I disagree with your dr about not being able to conceive if you had a thyroid problem. You probably don't have a thyroid problem (I looked at your chart & your temps seem to be fairly high (one common symptom of hypo is low BBTs)) but if I am not mistaken lots of ladies get pg with a thyroid issue & only learn of their thyroid issues later after several m/c's.

Anyway, I hope it all works out & you get your sticky bean soon!

great that you have a plan going. Well if your eggs are old you better get a cracken, oh that was lame....... I think it's a good start to something good, hoping the blood work helps out.

Well, that isn't the most pleasant thing to hear!
Still, I'm glad they're doing some tests just to rule out some other problems! I hope you feel a tiny bit better today, now that you have a plan! Hugs!

Kary, don't give up. I think we are in a similar boat where we know we can get pregnant but what the heck is going on after....who knows?? I'm turning 37 in December...that makes me sad to think that my egg quality is way down. I guess we just have to keep on trying and pray that one of these times it will happen. I'm glad that he's at least doing something! Hang in there....I have a sister that is 20 years younger than me, who is to say it can't happen for you.

You sound like you have some humor left, I'm glad you're getting some proactive results from your doctor and he's going to test you for things!!! Please keep us posted Kary and I'm still so sorry you're going thru this.... it never gets easier, but with time you'll be a little more at peace in your heart. (it's so much easier said than done) However, you're getting some results... and I'm glad you & your Dr. have a plan!!!

Kary,

Your Dr sounds like my Dr (must be a Dr thing!)..... He said exactly the same thing about my m/c - most probably due to abnormalities & there is nothing that can be done He also said medically I am not infertile as I can fall pg & I have a DD....

He is sending me for progesterone testing but on CD21.....

Just know that you are not alone & that most of us hear that clock ticking (sometimes louder than others!) I wish that you get some answers and you get your forever baby soon. My fingers are crossed for you. x

Kary - at least you have a plan now

And that age this is an AVERAGE... you are definitely well above average and therefore so are your eggs. Just need some time to get the right combination.

I really hope the tests reveal whatever they need to so you can get your sticky bean!!

Kary, my dr. told me the same thing too. Im 38 and have 4 living children. He told me its a "luck of the draw", egg quality has gone down and have to just keep trying until we get a good one. Nothing more to do. The blood clotting disorder is common and should be tested, but other than that he told me progesterone was not an issue as I have had 4 children with no supplements. I ovulate because I just concieved twice this year, so we just play russian rulet and see what the future brings us. There could be worse diagnoses for us than this and I had my last baby at age 33 so I feel you will hit the jackpot here on the next try.

Have had you on my mind too like Missy and everyone here, glad your head is up and your truck'n' along........

Well Kary, a plan is a good place to start. But I feel for you...I'm going to be 35 in 3 months and am just starting...no children...one pregnancy...and I get so stressed about my eggs being "old". It's tough, but hang in there. At least you are getting some tests done. And I hope you next time you O it will be a good "young" egg.

Hi,

First off I am so sorry for you recent loss. I was hoping that you were not losing it.
Have you ever had your Free t4 and Free t3 checked? If you have only had a TSH done for your thyroid then its not accurate. They can only truly tell if you have thyroid issues by testing your free t4 and free t3. The key word is Free. Most Dr's are not educated enough on Thyroid issues so it can be hard to find a Dr that will do these test and know how to read them. You would need to locate a thyroid speacialist. It took me a couple of yrs to find mine.
I am saying this because I have thryroid issues myself and just had my tsh done and was told my thyroid was fine. I then read up on Thyroid issues and discovered that your free t4 and free t3 has to be checked out. After having these checked I was put on Armour thyroid. My numbers were not off a whole lot but my meds helped me out so much. I felt horrible before. Some dont feel horrible though. Since my numbers were not off very much at all most Dr's would of told me everything was fine. It obvisiously was not. I felt great after getting on meds.

I also have had a m/c and really think my thyroid played a part in that.

Anyhow, could be worth checking into. Also there is a book on Iodine. It tells a story about a women whom had trouble conceiving and had m/c. Once she started the iodine she became pregnant and had the best pregnancy ever. So iodine plays a part in m/c and not being able to conceive as well.

Sounds like your DR has a good plan except for dismissing thyroid as a possible cause. I hope you get it all taken care of.

Blessings
