MTHFR Interpretation *** See Note
Chromosome Analysis Pending
Homozygous MTHFR A1298C: This sample has two copies of the MTHFR A1298C mutation and is negative for the C^&&T mutation. This is associated with decreased levels of enzyme activity. This is treated depending on where you look.... baby asprin, High doses folic acid, b-12, and or Lovenox.
It appears that I have a clotting factor. I guess when I go back for blood work on Monday, they will discuss my results... I am not sure what the - Not applicable means, they were pending.. so either they couldn't run my blood or the tests were normal.
I am not sure I am happy, mad, or unsure..... I should of had my baby girl today.... instead I am finding out why I might, have lost 3 babies.

Do you think Not applicable might mean they didn't run those particular tests on you? Like it just comes up with a standard list on the computer but the doctor didn't necessarily order all those for you..?
Anyway I am sorry for your due date today . I hope that on Monday you can find out exactly what's going on and what they can do to help you get your sticky bfp.

Kary,
That is alot of test results.... I'm sorry these results have come on your EDD. I wish for things to be different for you. I know how you feel about wanting something to be 'wrong' so you know but at the same time not wanting anything to be 'wrong' and just getting pg & staying pg to go on and have a forever baby. I hope on Monday there is more clarity and an 'action plan'. GL x

I'm sorry that you have to deal with this today of all days. But look on the bright side and think about the fact that now you have some answers and can hopefully get any problems resolved. I know that one day you will be holding a brother or sister to your angels. <<HUGS>>

Not applicable probably means it was normal. I'm glad that at least you are getting some answers. It really doesn't make it any better knowing that you may have lost your babies because of this, but it helps knowing a reason and you can prevent it from happening in the future. I'm sorry you are finding this out today of all days! HUGS!!!!

Kary!
I'm so glad you got your test results back. I have the MTHFR mutation too but I am only heterozygous for the "C" one. The perinatologist I spoke to last week actually used your case as an example where he would be really concerned (homozygous for the "A" MTHFR mutation). Also, I did some of my own research on PubMed and confirmed that your type is a definitely a clotting concern. I just wanted to say that I will be a little worried if they just prescribe extra folic acid and baby aspirin to you. I think, in my NON-MEDICAL-DOCTOR opinion, that it may warrant the injections. I mean, you will probably have to do the folic acid and aspirin as well but may need more help. (For mine, it's just aspirin, folic acid and B vitamins).
I actually think it's wonderful that something so black and white came up on your test results. Also, just a heads up...the amount of folic acid you will take is insane! I'm taking 4 mg (before I took 800 micrograms).
Keep me posted. I am really curious on what your experience with this MTHFR mutation is.

I'm glad you got some answers, so they can prevent this from happening again. When i had my testing everything was normal which was i think more frustrating because i still had no answers.

Well, the good news is you have answers and can now make a plan. Like a pp said, homozygous MTHFR is the most severe form of the disorder. I am hetero C677T MTHFR but I also have lupus anticoagulants so I am on daily injections of Lovenox, baby aspirin and increased folic acid (I also did increased B6 and B12 during the first tri along with progesterone supplements)
I would ask your doc about starting baby aspirin, B vitamins and folic acid now and would ask their opinion on starting Lovenox each cycle from 3dpo. It's expensive, but can make all the difference. The first cycle I did the Lovenox from 3dpo, I maintained the pregnancy and am 31w2d now.

Hugs Kari. I don't have the right words to say right now (well, I will never have the "right" words) but I hope that you get even more answers when you go in to discuss everything and while this is all bittersweet, I pray it gives you more hope.

Kary, I know this comes a little to late for your little girl, but now you have answers and more of a positive future for the next little one. I so wish we did not have to have so many losses before we found out such pertinant information like this, especially becasue it is treatable and there is a cure. Im thinking of you and your little girl.

Kary it must be frustrating to see the results but not have a plan. From what I've learned here MTHFR once diagnosed can be treated fairly easily. Please KUP on your Dr. Appt.
