Is it okay to get a seasonal flu shot during early pregnancy? I still have no idea if I'm pregnant or not but I'm supposed to be getting a flu shot tomorrow (Thurs.). I think it's safe, but what are your thoughts?

Thanks.

Yes it is safe. I got one with my last pregnancy just a week or so after finding out. I checked to make sure before getting it. I am getting mine tomorrow to.

Yes, it's safe! I have checked multiple times as well. Obviously there are small risks in everything in life but the benefit of a pregnant woman having the flu vaccine WAY outweighs the risk of you actually getting the flu while you are pregnant.

I'm getting one next week too...I hope I'm pregnant now. I think I'm not but it's still a wait and see for me.

My allergist/immunoligist recommends that if you are pregnant, you get a preservative free flu shot, without the Thirmasol (or however you spell it). Most places that give flu shots should have that option also.

A seasonal flu shot is recommended for pregnant women. If you are getting the H1N1 shot I would make sure to ask if the vaccine they are using does not contain an adjuvant.

I read an article today where they said pregnant women and healthcare workers should be the first to get the immunization for the swine flu.

Most definitely! Im in the A group for the vaccines this year even without being pg. I will be getting the H1N1 and the regular one and the pnenomia one. Im at high risk for comromised immune system due to radiated chest wall, but if I were to get pg again during flu season, I would definitely get one.

I got the seasonal flu shot yesterday, since it was offered for free at my work. I told the nurse I was pregnant and she said "congratulations" and "it's (the shot) still recommended."

I'm glad I got it, but I now have a very sore right arm/shoulder where she poked me. (I think I did last year for a couple days, too.)
