I've been doing a lot of research on progesterone and I was hoping to find a supplement that I could take after ovulation. My doc is going to put me on a progesterone suppos. when I get pg again, but I'd like to supplement until then. In conjunction with this I am also going to start eating healthier, stop all alcohol consumption after ovulation and I'm going caffeine free.

Has anyone heard or used this Macafem? Tell me your stories or thoughts on this natural supplement.

TIA!

**ETA** I know this isn't a supplement, but a natural way to balance your hormones, particularly estrogen and progesterone.

Maca root is like a "yam" or "sweet potato" it grows in the ground and looks pretty much exactly like it's cousin the yam. It is a main food source for (some of) the people in Peru, Indes mountains and is also considered a natural fertility booster as it contains phyto-progesterone.

Wild yam also has the same properties

(I used to work in Health & Natural foods for 11-12 years off/on)

Chaste tree berry (vitex) is something that also helps balance hormones along with Evening Primrose oil.... there's a tincture called "vitex elixer" that might be helpful *if* you have a hormonal imbalance... it's geared towards the luteal phase here's a link.... I've been recommended this and have recommended it from my own experiences. Also I've taken wild yam, evening primrose, and some other things too

Thanks for the recommendations! I've never really experimented with herbs or natural supplements so I want to make sure that it will do more good than harm before I start pumping my body with things. Thanks again!

Lemondrop sorry I don't know any thing about that one.. I was put on an oral suplement when I had my levels checked on this last pregnancy... When my levels were not rising... I was told to stop it. And heres the nurse coming out.....

also keep in mind if you are on any prescribed meds for other issues.. some herbal supplements can interfere with other drugs. Just check with your doctor if you are on any other drugs. Also check to see if these drugs have any other side effects that may interfere with your health.

Good luck...

Thanks Kary! I'm not on any medications, but I do think that I will play it safe this time. I really want to get things going, but my intuition is telling me to cool my jets and go with what the dr says. I've decided that I'm going to go the regular route this time, if it doesn't work then I'm going to call the dr and ask that she at least put me on progesterone AFTER I O and not when I get a + test. I just feel like that would be too late.
