My account was randomly selected for one of those vip membership teasers. Now it's over. All the icons I saw on my calendar disappeared. Apparently I only get the "forcasted ovulation" icon on my calendar if I have a vip membership. Will my basic membership get any icons on my calendar more than just the red circle when I started my period and the forcasted start of my next period? I've been charting my temps every day since the first day I started bleeding this last period. Do I need to get the membership to use this chart effectively? That just seems silly to me.

I can only tell you from my stand point.. I do pay for the upgrade... I like the whistles and bells.. But YOU don't need to pay for it to still work... It will still give crosshairs... just not the Bells... and so on.

Basic really just keeps temperature for you, and it'll draw a red line when it thinks you've ovulated. It'll keep track of all of your symptoms that you put in, but it won't display them on the chart or predict the likelihood of pregnancy.

That said, you don't need any of those things. Some people like to see them, but you don't need it. I used to chart on paper, and then started using FF because it was just more convenient. The VIP free trials are fun, but you can chart 100% effectively without spending the money. All you need to do is chart your temp, note the rise after ovulation (which FF will do for free), and then chart your LP temps to make sure they stay high for at least 12 days... more than 16 days and you're preggo!

That's good to know. That was really starting to annoy me. I like the bells and whistles too.. I just don't have the $$ to buy one right now. Since it's not required, I wont worry about it then.. thanks!

I just wanted to throw out another option... Ovusoft (Taking Charge of Your Fertility Software Download Version Order Form) is a one-time fee & it has a lot of bells & whistles itself. Anyway, I love it & like I said a one-time fee so you don't have to renew every year. I'm sure you can't get it now but maybe in the future!

I like the bells and whistles too. If you wait a month or two without upgrading they will most likely offer you a discount or another free month of VIP.

I happened to get the VIP preview and then not long after was offered a deeply discounted membership on several levels... I think I chose the 3mo for $15.00 option at that time to figure out if I really wanted it or not. I definitely love the perks. However I used it as a basic off/on years ago and it was totally efficient. (I also kept it on paper log too back then)
