So I was just looking at my past charts on FF (like I have nothing better to do at work) and I realized that most months we BD daily around O time. Some months 2 days prior + day of O, some months including day after O, but typically every day for a few days. Except the month I got my BFP. That cycle we did it every other day: O-3days, O-1day, O+1day, which does not even score a "high" rating on FF. But it obviously worked. There is the theory that every other day is better because that way daddy has time to replenish and you get a fresh batch of spermies, but then there are those that say it doesn't matter, daily is the way to go. There's a big part of me that doesn't want to "waste" those days. I have no idea why we didn't do it every day that cycle when I got my BFP - I must've been slipping that month!

So I was wondering...should we try it every other day this time instead of daily? Should I mimic a pattern that worked before? What would you all do?

I've always heard that every other day is better but who really knows.

I don't remember my previous pregnancies (and I don't chart) but this time we BD'd on O day, O+1 and O+3. (My O was based on serious amounts of EWCM on one single day - the day I am calling O, which completely stopped the next day).

We have tried the every other day and the every day thing but I honestly don't know if there is any truth to either one being better than the other. I think it depends on the guy - too many factors to generalize that much I think.

I have heard that to keep the quality/quantity of sperm consistent its best to start a few days before O and carry on through to a few days after - say O-4 to O+4. We didn't do that this cycle because DH was gone until O day so who knows what is "best".

Good question, I was just thinking the same thing yesterday when looking at my chart from last month! We dtd O-2 , the day of O and O+1. That cycle was a BFP. Now Im everdayO-2, O-1, O, and O+1. FF gave me a high for rating, but they do not know how old DH is, lol! Now Im thinking with DH's age (47) we would probably have better luck with every other day. I think the younger your DH is, the more the better. But when their over 40, should probably lessen it a bit. IDK, WE will see in a week or so.......

I'm wondering too. Hubby doesn't seem to have the energy to do it every other day even. We seem to do it ever 2 or 3 days. That seemed to work when I got pregnant the first time. I don't know if it really makes any difference.

With my first two we did every other or every third. Course now we are more like you doing it every day leading up to and the day after or so. But so far no joy. I am thinking the every other day thing worked better imo.

the month i got pregnant we BD'd AM o-3 and then 2 times on O day, and that was it. We tend to BD a lot around O time too. We are Doing Sperm Meets Egg plan this month which advocates every other day up to O and then once you get a + OPK BD for 3 days in a row. So that's the plan for this month and we'll see what happens.

I'd say if you've tried daily several cycles & it hasn't worked try every other day. Actually that's what my OB recommends & what we do even though DH's numbers are GREAT! It worked last time I got pg!
