Ok so what's happening this coming saturday, a week from now, is this near by air force base is having an air show. I am hugely into aviation of any kind and name pretty much every plane I see as it flies over me or takes off in front of me while I'm near airports and stuff. The airshow is 9 am to like 4 pm or something. DH and I are so excited about that.
What's also happening next saturday is my cousins are having a bon voyage party and packing up their rv and traveling the good ol' US for the next 8 months to a year or so. My mom called yesterday to let me know and I wasn't thinking straight and told her we'd (dh and I) would be there.
The thing is.. I know I'll be seeing them in a year for sure when they get back anyways. What I don't know is if the air force base will be having another air show later, if it is then I'll just go to that one and go this party. I don't really chat with them much at all though. We have each other's phone numbers but we never call each other.. there's nothing to say past hi how are you? At this get togethers, I end up feeling a bit left out and bored because my other cousins living in that area all start chatting and talk about things I was never a part of. They're not trying to be mean I know. That's not the issue at all.
I think I'm going to go to the air show at this point.. DH and I have been looking forward to that since 2 months ago.
He told me not to feel ashamed for choosing the air show and that by choosing the air show I'm not showing I love planes more than them. I'm just worried how I'm gonna tell my mom though. I don't want her to think I'm all immature and stuff. I don't know.. O.o
umm thanks for reading if you got this far and if you're even able to track what I'm saying here. I'm not even sure I made sense.

Can you show up for the party after the airshow?... Than this way you get to enjoy the airshow... than go for a bite to eat and show face at the going away party... two birds one stone kinda of thing???

You made complete sence (yup, I read the whole thing). I say go to the airshow, life is way to short to worry about pleasing everyone else all the time.

They're 2 hours away from us.  The air show is a mere 30 minutes away. and they over lap. Thanks for the try though. I just hope I wont like a jerk by bowing out.

NOPE.. not a jerk! I wish sometimes I would have chosen things I wanted to do .. instead of doing thingd to make other people happy. I say go to the show!

I do too. I think maybe I'll give this one to myself and go to the air show. I'll call my mom tomorrow and let her know so she can tell my cousins and I'll get my cousins a card or something to let them know I'm thinking about them.

I would be like hey sorry we just can't do it that weekend we made plans two months ago that I forgot about. Do what makes you happy. Life is to short to be unhappy.

Well, I dunno what you should do... it sounds like you have your mind made up, ya know? Go to the airshow, send your apologies... Life is too short to live with regrets!

I do pretty much have my mind made up. I am going to go to my air show because I know I'll see them in a year. What I don't know is if the air force base will have another show next year.

I think I would let them know you were very sorry but you had made plans way in advance and you promise to attend their homecoming. We have seen a few airshows. Dh & I were married on the 3rd of July so for the anniversary before last their was fireworks and the Blue Angels practicing above us. It was really cool. Have a great time!

That's what I did.  i've never seen the blue angels. I have seen the thunder birds though. I love air shows. I've been to 2 that I can remember.
