Okay, well my hcg levels weren't where I would hope them to be, but I am making progress. I can't very well get pregnant when I'm technically still pregnant. Right now my diagnosis sits as "missed AB" or missed miscarriage. My hcg levels are down to 12 (levels were 20 on Monday) so they are finally dropping. I seen a different midwife than I usually see and she wants me to come back to see one of the doctors next week. With both my old midwife and her saying the same thing I will follow up with doctor next week. Hopefully nothing will need to be done, but I guess I will have to wait and see. She said if my levels are not below 5 by next Friday that I really should plan on scheduling a d&c. She said that they would be concerned about the tissue being left could turn into cancerous cells or some other issue besides just a pregnancy loss. When I told her I was surprised my numbers were dropping so slowly she said she was surprised as well, but sometimes that just happens. I am honestly not thinking I will need a d&c since the numbers are finally dropping. I think they are just going down as slowly as they went up. If my numbers are 8 or less next Friday I do not plan to do anything unless doctor has some very good explanation to me as to why it would be necessary to do a d&c. If my numbers are still sitting at 12 next week I probably will go ahead and schedule the d&c. She also suggested trying black cohosh tea so I am going to see if I can find that today. I have not had any substantial bleeding as of yet and since my hcg levels are still pregnant I am sure I have not passed things yet. I'll update you all again next week with my levels and appt news.
As far as trying again she said that she would recommend me sitting out at least 2 cycles since this is the second early loss I had in a row. I don't know. I am going to ask the doctor next week as well and see if he has the same opinion. I will probably sit out next cycle, but not sure if I'll sit out 2 cycles or not.

I'm sure they will drop by next week! 12 is good! It does take longer sometimes. My levels took almost 3 weeks to get back to zero. I didn't end up needing a D&C either... I like to think that the baby had my stubborn genes Don't worry, I'm sure you're going to be fine!

I am glad your numbers are going down but sorry that your body is not working faster for you.
"She also suggested trying black cohosh tea" - You can buy it at GNC or any food health store. If you don't like tea they have capsuls that you can swallow as well, I am almost positive that wal-mart has it. (Yup, walmart sells it, I just looked on their website). Sorry you are going through all of this and hope that you don't end up having to have the surgery.

Good to know. I like tea so that's not a problem. I am going to pick that up and give it a try. It's better than sitting and doing nothing.

Like Kary said, once mine hit 20 they went real quick for me too. Within exactly 1wk. it was down to 5 wich is considered negative. I did not have to go back to the dr. for blood draws any more. I pray by the end of the week, you will be into your new cycle and start charting away! As for two months v's one month, do whatever you feel is best. Dr.'s only suggest this time for mental healing. Unless of course you had a d&c, wich would strip your uterine stripe to almost nothing and that takes awhile to build back up again. Are they doing any kind of testing on you Teresa? Hormones, blood clotting disorders?

No, my midwife kind of annoyed me with this, but I tend to think she is probably right. She said since dh and I have 5 kids together that this isn't traditional fertility problems. She said it is most likely chromosomal issues related to me being older. I am going to use progesterone cream I think the next time we ttc and see what happens and I may use some baby aspirin too since I don't think it can hurt to add either of those things in.

This is probably a dumb question, but progesterone cream is prescription, right? I plan on asking my OB at my appt on Wednesday too.
