I just had my second miscarriage and at this point my Dr. is going to refer me for testing to find out what is going on. Anyone who has had testing done what kinds of things can I maybe expect? I know some things may be different but I am looking for a general idea. Did your insurance cover it? My Dr. said they might not because even though the new rule is testing after 2 losses, some companies still go by the old testing after three losses.

Thanks for any and all advice!!

I am so sorry for your loss...

I had a bunch of blood tests... I had a uterine biopsy and and I was supposed to have an HSG, but I am allergic to iodine...

I have never had any testing done so I am not totally sure what they check for. I am glad your doctor is being proactive.

I'm sorry for your losses. You can check out the recurrent pregnancy loss board too, and there's some documents there with all the testing that can be done. Briefly, I've had HSGs, Blood work for thyroid, PCOS, prolactin, blood clotting and immune disorders, and genetic testing (chromosomal analysis) after my first two losses.

In my case, my insurance covered everything. I called them to verify before hand. You'll need the codes that the Dr.s office will bill you with. To get that, I called the Dr,'s office (that was not an easy task.. I had to find someone to look them up!). You can sometimes also find the codes online (blood work company websites have some of them) for the blood tests (I had to do that for some of them because the Dr. was not helpful!). You then call up the insurance company and tell them the codes, and they tell you if they cover it or not. It's a huge pain in the butt run around, but it will let you know. These tests cost anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand each, if you don't have coverage.

HUGS. I hope you find the answers you're seeking to lead you to a healthy baby!

I actually just went through this and met with my OB today to discuss the lab results. For me, he tested my thyroid and did a thrombophelia panel (blood clot disorder). I apparently have a mutation and he said the only recommendation he had was high-dose (4 mg) of folic acid, which I have already been on because I have spina bifida. I am researching however if I should also be taking a baby aspirin. I'm so glad your doctor is being proactive and you get your answers and a sticky bean soon!

I'm so sorry you have to go through this again. THis just isn't fair!
I've also done all sorts of bt...about 12 vials at my RE's office and another 3 vials at another lab. Also I was going in for my cycle for u/s and bt on cd3, cd9, cd11, cd21 ...just to see how my body is handling the cycle and if I'm ovulating. Good luck. I know it's scary, but I think it's better to know what is going on, so it can be addressed.
HUGS!
