I had a D&C done on Wednesday the 21st. Baby was 9 weeks with no heartbeat. Since then, I have had very very little bleeding, so little that I can wear panty liners. Yesterday I had no bleeding at all, but this morning I woke up and Im having heavy bleeding with the worst cramps I have ever had Is this bleeding just from the D&C or am I starting to have a period? It seems way to soon to be having a period but with the way things have been since wednesday, Im not sure Thanks for the help girls! Jennifer

First of all I'm sorry to hear of your loss!!! HUGS!!! I never had a d&c, so can't really give you any advise on that. I think some of the ladies have reported little bleeding afterwards though. I do not think this would be your period this soon, usually it comes 4 - 6 weeks later. So it's something to do with your m/c. Remember that if your bleeding is really heavy (changing at least 3 pads in 1 hours for a couple of hours) or you have extreme pain or fever, get yourself to the ER ASAP. There could be some tissue left behind causing it. However, maybe it's just a delayed reaction because of the d&c, since heavy bleeding and cramping is normal after a m/c. Maybe you should ask your dr. for an u/s if this doesn't get better in a couple of days, just to make sure everything is okay.

Im sorry for your loss and wanted to welcome you here. What your describing sounds normal. I had a d&c in April for 9.5wks, babys heart beat stopped at 8wks. I had no bleeding or spotting right after surgery for 2wks, then got af. Dr. said it was really early, but that it sounded like af. It was for 5 days but was not that heavy. Then 3wks later I got it again and it was extremely heavy. After a d&c it takes several cycles to get your hormones/lining back to normal. I hope yours returns normal as quick as possible. Im sorry again for your loss.

hugs! I'm sorry for your loss. After both of my D&Cs (one was also after 9 weeks with no heartbeat), I had two weeks of on and off heavy or light bleeding. It comes and goes, which is frusterating. Usually a period comes back after 4-8 weeks, but it could come earlier or later. My Dr. told me that as long as the heavy bleeding didn't last more than two weeks, or that I bled more than a pad an hour for three hours, that it was OK. Everyone's body responds differently, but be sure to call your Dr. if you're worried! HUGS. I hope you have a quick recovery.

(((Hugs))) I am sorry for your loss. With my d&c I had a lot of hemorrhaging before it so my bleeding was a lot less after the d&c. I wouldn't consider the bleeding you are having AF exactly, but for counting your cycle I would go ahead and consider the bleeding day 1 of your cycle. It'll be hard to say when you will O though. After a d&c you could ovulate right away or maybe not for a while. Every body is different.

I agree with Teresa that you should count your heavy bleeding as cycle day 1 for your next cycle. I remember my D&C being a lot like yours...I didn't bleed very much right after but then I started bleeding and it was heavy and painful. Also, it was a lot longer than a regular period...I think I bled for 10 days or so although it was only heavy on the first couple days.

Hopefully your bleeding means your HCG levels are down to 0...if they aren't, you might bleed again when they get to O.

Welcome to the board. I'm sorry for your loss and hope you can find some comfort here.

jlc... I am so sorry for you loss... Welcome to the board... I had a d/c on Feb 6th... I had no bleeding or spotting. It took 35 days for AF to show.. Like some one said before every body is different. I hope your stay here is short and this is your last AF for 9 months! Good Luck!

Sorry for your loss {{HUGS}} After my d&c in may I have light bleeding for a few days and af showed 31 days after, which is how long my cycles are normally.

Good luck

Jennifer I am very sorry to hear about your loss, welcome to TTCAL!

How are you feeling? Do you have a fever at all? How heavy is your bleeding?

I would report anything to your OB/GYN's office that it outside of the norm that they have told you about prior to when they discharged you.Definitely ask them any questions too, no question is a dumb question!

I haven't had a D&C / D&E, so I can't really say when you would have your first AF. However, the first day of real bleeding is when the Dr's & nurses told me to count as CD 1 even if it was while I was miscarrying. Does that make sense?

Again I'm sorry you're going thru a loss and physical pain right now, hope that you find comfort in this board
